Ok, I just placed a bid on EBAY for 225 bucks on a set of Adams a3 hybrid irons 3-PW. I thought it was a great deal. I was just wondering what you guys think of the whole "hybrid irons" concept?

I'm likewise a huge fan of hybrids....I've even ditched my 5 iron and carry a cheap RAM hybrid I picked up at Target for $10.

As far as a set copletely made up of hybrids, such as the Callaway i-brid irons, I don't think it would work for me. I've never mastered the art of hitting a low stinger with a hybrid, so on the occasion where there are tree branches extending out over the fairway, or I'm having to punch out of the woods, I'd much rather have a standard 6 or 7 iron in my hand instead. They're a lot easier to keep low.

I recently purchased a Callaway 3 i-brid. It plays more like an iron than a hybrid. For hitting a 3 iron, I feel like I'm 20 years younger. These things really do work.

I have the A2 set and love it (see my post on 26*H) Hitting a 5H and 6H takes some getting used to. I still like hitting irons 7iron on down. A friend of mine has a bazooka set where every club (including SW) has a hybrid look. This looks way too wierd to me.

If you are playing hybrids and considering a new set of irons, it really makes sense to look at a set that has the hybrids. It would seem that they would be designed to give a seamless transition and yardage consistency. Sometimes it can be hard to find a hybrid that "fits" (yardage-wise). Also you are not buying clubs you won't be using (3 & 4-iron).
