So as I get deeper and deeper into this sport I have noticed that when it comes to wedges - most/many are compared to the Vokey (by Titleist) and when it comes to putters they are compared to Cameron (by Titleist).

It got me to thinking - is there more by this company that I am missing? Been sniffing hard core for a decent Cameron via the usual suspects but should I also be looking at any other Titleist offerings?

How are their drivers? What should I look for in a Titleist driver? (model or specific shafts etc.)

I know their irons are vaunted as a good players type of iron, what ones?

I think the biggest selling point, to me..and probably other "serious golfers" <--taken from their slogan, is that their stuff is frills free. No special bells or whistles or fancy graphics. This may have hurt them as far as sales in the bigger, "hackers" market but it holds true for many players. I like that the feedback I get from their clubs is more of a solid "smack" than some adultered auditory "ping", "ting" as with other clubs. I would say after Titleist the next closest manufacturer fitting this mold with be Taylor Made.

Their drivers speak for themselves. I play an older 905R and it is the best feeling driver I've hit in awhile. Nothing fancy about it and no reassuring "ping", "ting" sound you might get with others. You get what you put into it. The proof is in the pudding. In the end you get a clubs that are a timeless design.

Clubs for the most part are a preference thing. I mean lets think abuot this. Before Tiger Woods, Nike was not even IN THE GOLF WORLD. Now they are huge. Some clubs work for some, and some do not. Titleist owns many companies. Their golf ball line is made up of different price tiers, and they own quite a bit that is not LABELED TITLEIST. I love their golf balls, and have tried their irons and woods and did not care for them as much. Its all just a preference thing.

I have always been a fan of Titleist wedges. I have had a Vokey in bag since 1998. I just removed it though due to me using the Mizuno wedges.

I played 962's back in the day and they were great clubs. I have not tried any of their players irons as I am partial to Mizunos and won't be switching anytime soon.

Now for the driver.....I have yet to hit one that I like. I believe I have demo'ed every driver Titleist has come out with since the 975. I have tried my hardest to like a Titleist driver. I am sure they are fine clubs but not for me.

I do like my 3 wood. It has a classic small head look and has great distance.

Titleist has their niche. I'm not sure as a 24 you fit the niche, but there are exceptions to every rule, and there's also something to be said for being happy with your equipment.

That being said, wait until the fall before you look at your driver choices. Even if you want a current driver, they'll cost less.

Titleist makes no-frills good equipment for better players, with an emphasis on feel and simple, classic looks. The feel part is debatable with the wedges (though not according to Bob Vokey himself or his PGA Tour players), and the "classic" takes a mini vacation with a few of Scotty's putters, but overall, it's feel and classy looks along with performance for the "serious" golfer.

I like Titleist clubs. They are for competitors and should not be taken lightly. I was not that impressed by the irons though, but everything else is top notch.

That's it too - their stuff looks so classic and well, clean. I never had a problem with weird shaped stuff at address - club looks while golfing don't bother me but I admit a Titleist driver looks very classic sitting there on the rack.

when i comes to golf equipment no one beats Titleist. they have the best ball, putters, and sandwages. in the case with irons they are 2nd on tour as well for there woods. Now for the driver they are also 2nd on tour very close to TM. If u have seen the TM commcercial when the mention they are the leading driver in tour and combinning Cal., Nike, ping, Cleve. do not make up the same amount of # of just TM played on tour. in thar commercial they left out Tit b/c they now they r in close 2nd. So if Titleist is in every catagory no less then 2nd they must be doing something right and if you go the the titleist web site and look under equipment they show u the stats for every yr where the place in equipment in all the tours, pro am's, and so on :)

You cant say that "they are the best" or that "they are 2nd". Its a subjective thing. If they were the best hands down, every tour pro would play them, and every company would be gone.

ya u can say that too but any one who is a golf fan knows titleist is one of the top brands out there u can even say its the best if not the 2nd. what they make and quality and rep they have with the golfer is far higher then any other brand. they might not be the best brand in every catagory but they do have a lot of catagories that they r the best. im just going of stats with no opinions everyone is different and that y there are other brands

Of course they make quality products...Nobody is questioning that. But to say they are the best is just too subjective. The best player in the world is Tiger Woods, that is indisputable. He plays Nike Irons, Drivers, and Balls. Does that mean they are the best? No, it is a subjective thing. Or are you saying, that these other pros that play different equipment are so good, they can play inferior equipment. Titleist makes a fine product. Some of their stuff is top notch. But to say they are the best is too subjective.

And of course there is no coincedence that you play all Titleist stuff right? Cause they are the best...lol

i agree with some of ur post but i real life there is always one product is better than the other and the other products are always trying to memic or bring it down. like Tiger a lot of people want to be like hime and try to use his equipment and so on or BMW 3 many car man. have set that as a standard. i feel the same way with Titleist they might not have every cata. as the best but they do have a couple under there belt and so of these other brands dont if i have to play an other of top 3 it would be Tit., TM, Mizzy i thing u will agree with me;) o by the way tiger did play Tit for a lonf while till Nike bought himout but he still uses Tit putter :)

Your views are very biased. Titlest makes quality equipment nobody can deny that. However, you can't say they are the best . Better than some? Sure. Better than most? Hell, why not. Best, no way. Golf isn't always about what is the "best". It's about what feels the best in your hands not somebody elses. Titlest obviously feels the best in your hands and i don't doubt that, but you can't say that it feels the best for me or anybody else.

Again, it is subjective. According to your logic, since Tiger is the best, and now he uses Nike, then Nike must be better, except for the putters. When 2 products are made, 1 doesnt have to be better than the other. It can be purely subjective. Both Dominos and Pizza Hut have been around for 30-40 years. Is one better? According to you, it might be one and your neighbor might think the other. It doesnt make one better. It is purely subjective. Titleist makes many products most are very high quality. But to say that they are better is just an opinion.

IMO Titleist is the ultimate in terms of EGO clubs. I can't even count how many junior golfers around here have 695MB blades... really? Some of the best players I know are all about smaller/ less known companies where their clubs are so tweaked out and personalized it just freaks me out.

Vokey wedge or a Scratch wedge with a customized sole and weight/porting... even though we know about scratch and other brands your average golfer doesnt
