Two weeks ago I came into the busy season for Golf knowing I needed a new driver, iron or hybrid, a putter and possibly a wedge. My hopes were for a newer Titleist driver, a Nike hybrid and a Yes! or Scotty Cameron Putter and again, possibly a wedge.

So I go on the prowl for some lightly used clubs. I find a 2008 Titleist 907D1 driver, used for two weeks (or it appears to have been used for two weeks), for $150. I then buy a never-before-used Nike CPR hybrid with the plastic still on it for $50 at Foxy Golf. Then, today, I buy a Yes! Tracy putter with no usage marks for 110$.

First off, I have always believed 90% of putting is personal skill - reading the putt, putting stroke etc. But after doing research, the Yes! and SC putters are in a league of their own as far as putter performance is concerned. Both are well made, both with great rolls. SC is a little much for me for one club.

So this is what it means - the Titleist driver is $500 on it's website but I am guessing it retails for $300. The CPR hybrid goes for $130, and the Yes! putter goes for $170. That's $800 dollars worth of golf clubs (at best, 600) - the driver has only a few marks on the bottom of the club, nothing big, nothing that will affect play; the hybrid is never-before-used and the putter looks like it's brand new, no visible marks - and I spent just 310, a savings of $500 or atleast $300.

I'm telling ya - the deals are out there. The putter is fantastic, the driver has a custom shaft (at least $30), and the hybrid is new. I'm in such a great mood because of all this. And btw - I decided against the extra wedge for now. I have a Dunlop I may throw in there but who knows.

Let's see how it works. Anyone else feel my joy or find any other great deals?

Great deals are awesome! My putter I have had for years now was a great deal. I tried it out on the practice indoor green, liked it, and then looked at some others. When I picked up one like it again I noticed the price was half of what I saw before. I picked up the one next to it and saw the original price. I thought it was a mispriced club.

I took it to the register and asked about it. Turned out it was a return that was used. I couldn't find a mark on it. Needless to say I bought it. I couldn't believe it was marked down so much for the great shape it was in.

I must live in the black hole of golf. No deals to be found in this town. Not one SC to even try somewhere, and nope, we don't have a Golfsmith or Golf Galaxxy either.

Been going thru ebay but still no dice on what I want - too many older Circa 62's with rust.

Even with 3ballsgolf or whatever they're called, I'm still wary about buying clubs on Ebay. I'd do it again don't get me wrong, but with all the scandals I make sure they have 100% positive feedback.

With the putter, I still believe putting is 90% personal skill. But after doing some research, I learned that as far as putter performance is concerned, Yes! and Scotty Cameron are in a league of their own. So, I went with performance and a great deal.

Around me it's very, very cheap since I live within walking distance of 3 courses and within a short drive of 5 separate courses, so all of the outlet stores and proshops always have heavy competition,

I'm still all giddy about my Mizuno MP-57s (BTW, were SUPPOSED to be delivered today only to find out when checking UPS tracking every 10 minutes, "ADVERSE WEATHER DELAY"...WHAT?).

I used the live.com 15% off (its still going by the way, 20% now off anything you buy on ebay with paypal if you use buy it now...), plus a $200 courtesy coupon I got from Ebay for a dispute that was closed a while back. So, I scored a 4-PW Mizuno MP-57 with only the 6-iron hit indoors with ghost tape, from an authorized Mizuno dealer, for a grand total of $295. Now I think thats a good deal!

I've decided that if I make bonus this month - new Scotty Studio Select mid slant at 35 inches. Screw it - sick of deal hunting.
