I am playing 9 at 6:30 AM tomorrow (well, technically today). I am about 40 minutes from the course so I am going to have to get up at like 5. I am golfing with a group of 6 or 7 family members and friends who play the same course every Sunday at 6:30, which seems insanely early to me.

Anyway, what is the earliest you have teed off? It has been a long time since I have gotten up that early and I have no idea how I am going to play after only a few hours of sleep.

I used to tee off at the local par 3 at 6:00am every Sunday morning. I liked playing that early because I pretty much had the course to myself.
At the time, I had just started playing golf and I found it less intimidating playing at that time of day.
Nowdays, I dont know if Im more confident or just dont care anymore, but I like to play later in the day. Im no pro golfer and I know it, so I dont care what other people think about my game and I like playing later on in the day after the grass has time to dry.

The empty course aspect is a huge factor for me. Not because other people seeing my play makes me nervous, just because I hate that other people slow me down most of the time. Apparently the owners of the course know the guys I am playing with and let them go off in groups of 5 or more because they know that, in the unlikely other people show up to play at that time, that our group of 6 or 7 will be at least as fast as a foursome.

6 AM. Although I hate playing early because not only do I not like getting up, but I hate the morning dew which makes for a mess and then trying to find the ball when the grass is glaring off the dew from the morning sun is a pain as well.

I love a nine on a Sunday morning, I get back home before the rest of my lazy crew have got out of bed.

One of my best memories was of the time I was playing at Monte Mayor in southern Spain.I was standing on the first tee in the dark as the sun poked his head over the mountians within seconds the place just sprung into life, a sight to behold

We play 3 days a week at 7am. The courses where I live will not let people play until 7. We try and have teh 1st time, so we dont have to follow anyone.

When I'm home visiting my parents we go out at 5am every Saturday. The starter is a really cool guy who lets us pay on the turn. It being Seattle, your feet and pants get soaked from all of the dew no matter what kind of gear you're wearing.

5:45am this season. Would have been 5am if the course had let me on when I showed up. That early has it's pluses and minuses.

+'s. If you get out before any foursomes or slow golfers you can pretty much play your pace. I have actually let other singles move through who were playing faster than me and I'm pretty quick.

You have the rest of the day to accomplish other things.

If it's a hot day it's cooler in the AM.

-'s.

Can make for some pretty weird course conditions. Dew and freshly mown grass do not mix well. Dew and greens do not mix well.

Gotta carry the coffee mug along.

I'm a late day golfer preferring to actually be one of the last coming off the course on any given day. Gotta get up way too early for my tastes.

I just found out that in the club champs 1st round i have to tee off at wait for it...7.37!!

Now that may not seem too bad for most of you, but since i broke up after my exams, i havent seen that sort of time for a while.

I believe i may be going to bed at roughly 7.30 to compensate... for the Next WEEK!!!

When I was a kid I had a summer job that started at noon. I used to meet a friend of mine at the tennis courts at 4:30 a.m. and a quarter would buy you an hour of lights. We would then drive to the golf course and tee off at around 5:45. I was so much younger then
