I dont post as often as I read posts, but I have come across many threads that have actually helped improve my game by giving solutions, advice etc. Has this forum actually helped improve your game?

Absolutely. Some really good putting and short game tips and I've had the luxury of actually playing with some members that are really good golfers.

No. Not other than someone suggesting to read Ben Hogan's book. Or maybe just motivation to play and practice.

Or maybe just motivation to play and practice.

I have to agree. With the advent of golf forums on the internet (I like this one the most) I find that I am thinking about golf when not actively playing or practicing a lot more than I did say 15 years ago. Thinking about golf more has motivated me to play and practice more, so ultimately I'd have to say yes it's helped my game.

It gives the motivation to play as well. I look forward to coming on this forum everyday. I just love the atmosphere and the discussion. I get such good tips from this forum. The best thing about it though, is I've learned so much about clubs! Before I came here, I had no idea what a Cavity back or muscleback was, I didn't know anything about shafts, rarely knew what brands people were talking about. Now I know alot about these things and it all goes to other members on the forum.

All in all its a great place to be, everyone is friendly, almost everyone gets along, its awesome.

Hard to say with certainty. But my strong feeling is "yes". I'm new to the game, so I'm soaking up information, tips, and knowledge of the game from lots of avenues, only one of which is this forum.

You bet, I would not have the motivation to practice and improve. I would have no way to track my progress without Scorecard and I have learned a lot of great tips.

Yeah. I've learned a lot about equipment and some putting drills. Erik convinced me to establish my yardages for various swings with my wedges, and I credit that with a good 2-3 strokes per round saved.

Absolutely. U'll be bs'ing if u said it didn't.
Reading questions/problems others have & I know I tend to & checking out different solutions 2 have the confidence to approach that shot & practice it.
U get to read up on the mentality of low handicappers that let u follow a trend of thinking...insight on their game.
Plus with how supportive this forum is, I get excited to post the outcome of groundbreaking events: good or bad...and it makes me want to work smarter @ reaching my potential...

It's amazing how much you can learn from these forums. Most of the time the opinions are non-biased personal experiences. Which to me is the best advice you can get. Someone that has done it, or have gone through the same "learning" pains you are going through.

For instance, I would have never bought a golf GPS if I didn't read some much about it here. And it's helped me take 3-5 shots off my score.

Or constant rules snippets I learn from numerous threads here. Etiquette has also been discussed on many levels, and of course equipment/balls etc.. Those have all played in a part in what i use today.

So basically, the Sand Trap is where I learned to play golf when I can't be out on the course :)

I've only been here for what, 2 or 3 weeks? But I think it has. Hell, I've switched to two hybrids (man I love those clubs) and am pondering adding a flop wedge to my bag through advice given on here.

But all in all - as a sports journalist - nothing beats talkin' sports. Nothing. NOTHING. Just being able to discuss golf with you guys and girls has been fantastic for the short time I've been here, and while I don't think I can come up with one huge factor that's helped my game, I'm 99% sure I've picked up small things that have and will help my golf game.

I've finally become the 100% think-about-golf-all-day guy I thought I'd be one day, and if you haven't noticed since I joined this site my driver, putter, hybrids and balls (haha...sorry, immaturity there) have changed for the better. (Maltby golf, Odyssey and Ping, Maltby, any have turned into Titleist, Nike, Yes! and Titleist DT).

So thanks for getting me over here and the discussions. Keep em' coming!

For me, yes. Absolutely.

I had some guys from here critique my golf swing. They gave some solid feedback. And, I went out the next week and tried to apply it. It helped.

Yes, I can get a good swing thought or two reading some of the threads, but specifically something Ben said about bunker shots has helped me considerably!!!

Absolutely. My game has improved so much! From knowledge of clubs and club selection (as well as other equipment) to changing from a bomb and gouge sort of player (actually non-player) to more of a meticulous approach. Giving thought to the shot I want into the green prior to hitting the shot at hand....and so much more.

My handicap doesn't show it, my scores haven't drastically changed... but I feel much better about how I play. I don't scramble for par as much as I used to. I'm putting for more birds. I've gained distance, trajectory and accuracy with my irons (hitting them soooo much better). Best of all....I'm kicking a$$ in my leagues due to all of this! lol
