I've been looking at picking up one of the over-the-top swing trainers like Inside Approach to have for some visual feedback. Any opinion on these three? They're all about the same price.

Path-Pro Swing Trainer

SKLZ Slice Eliminator

The Inside Approach Golf Swing Trainer

Thanks,

Kevin

I can't comment on any of those, but I have been using a homemade version of a dual trace swing trainer and it has been extremely helpful in correcting my slice. I like it in that I can see the clubhead path and the face angle.

I have the Inside Approach and my experience with it has been very good. You can get it at

Target for $25. It comes with a mesh bag, and it fits in the large side pocket of my stand bag when disassembled and stored in its bag. The only problem that I have had with it is that the foam padding starts to shred after a few hard direct hits. But you can always buy more from the manufacturer, or from a hardware store (polyethelyne pipe insulation - 1" w/1" walls). A minor complaint though. Overall, I would recommend it.

If you practice at a grass range, you don't even need to spend the $25. Just take an old broken shaft or any other type of pole (places like Home Depot and Lowes sell fiberglass snowplow driveway markers for a few bucks) and shove in into the ground at an angle so that the ball is under the shaft. If you come over the top (outside to in), you will hit the pole.

If you come over the top (outside to in), you will hit the pole.

That sounds like it could be a little painful.

Nah. But it is a little . . . "

jarring " I guess would be the right word. But that's the point. Your mind's fear of hitting the pole (or the Inside Approach) creates a very strong subconscious incentive to change your club path.

Try the Inside Approach. For $25 you cant go wrong. I got one a few months ago and it is a great training aid. It gives you a nice visual of how to take the club back and through. This visual stays with you on the course. It helped me cure my slice!

FYI, I picked up one at Target yesterday and they're on sale for like $22 something. I haven't had a chance to really try it yet.

Try this:

Assuming your a righty, on your back swing and down swing, keep your right elbow tucked slugly against your side/hip. Does this for two or three trips to the range. It'll feel wierd, but you'll learn a new swing path. Once you train yourself the new swing path, you can eventually ease your elbow out naturally.

I cured my slice this way. Be warned however, the above method causes you to chunk; which is what i'm trying to cure now. :)
