My two cents...

The one thing that jumps out at me is that your hips and upper body (arms, shoulders) are coming around at the same time during your down swing, which for me always caused a slice.

Try to rotate your hips first, which will start your downswing, allowing your hips to clear so your swing stays inside to out.

When your hips and upper body move together it causes your swing to go outside to in, which of course produces a slice.

Again, just my two cents worth...

Edit: and by the way, how is Augusta these days? Haven't been back there in about 7 years.

Thanks for the reply JGus.....I can definately see now that I am moving them together and I have to unwind from bottom to top....I will do some drills and see if I can get that rotation right. This is the first time I have ever looked at my swing by video....pretty cool.

Augusta is great.......in July, we are HOT and HUMID. This year has been mild thus far compared to last year. We are in the low 90s and that has made golf much more enjoyable!

You have a classic over-the-top move. Look at these two pictures: the first is at the peak of your backswing, the second is just milliseconds into your downswing.

Notice how, in the second pic, we can see almost none of the white above your left arm like we could in the first pic. Your initial downswing move is slightly tilting your spine angle downward and your swing plane is changing accordingly. Try to let gravity start your downswing, and maintain your posture.

Nothing in the swing is done at the expense of balance.

That is an interesting picture and good observation.....I also see that my right elbow is moving away from my body which is casting the club as well.....thanks.

yup .. it's an over the top move. You aren't per say casting the club ... but you are starting your downswing with your hands.

There is a drill I learned a long time ago that helps with this. It's called the baseball step.

Take your normal stance.
Bring your left foot back touching your right foot but keeping the club way out in front where the ball position would still be.
Take your back swing, before your downswing, step towards the target like you would do with a baseball bat, as you do that, swing the club, let the gravity take over.

Be careful with terms, "casting" usually describes the action of releasing the wrist hinge too early. I don't see that with you.

And I just noticed, too - not sure if this is a symptom or a problem - but your front left foot is way too active. It's way up on the toe, nearly off the ground, and then your left knee almost traces a circle as you transition through to your downswing. Keep that front leg more quiet and firm. Gotta stay grounded!

Nothing in the swing is done at the expense of balance.

I would recommend getting a video while actually hitting a ball. Really easy to take a nice smooth swing w/out a ball. I've done video recently with both...just practice swings and then actually hitting a ball. Huge differences...especially in my impact position...that little white ball causes us to do crazy things during our swing.

A vid while actually hitting a shot will give you the best feedback.

the things that I saw could be a problem were

1. you're coming way past parrallel to your target
2. your body position looks a little open to your target line
3. club positioning looks like it's more towards the middle of your stance
4. the swing plane looks steep on the way down

solutions
1. shorten the back swing
2. step a little forward with your left foot coming closer to the ball to close your stance
3. try putting the ball more towards the front of your stance giving you time to square the face
4. try flattening the plane a little bit...

    • However, have you ever considered using small summer houses for such setups? They offer a great solution for creating dedicated practice areas, especially for an affluent audience looking to enhance their outdoor living space.
    • I've played Bali Hai, Bear's Best and Painted Desert. I enjoyed Bali Hai the most--course was in great shape, friendly staff and got paired in a great group. Bear's Best greens were very fast, didn't hold the ball well (I normally have enough spin to stop the ball after 1-2 hops).  The sand was different on many holes. Some were even dark sand (recreation of holes from Hawaii). Unfortunately I was single and paired with a local "member" who only played the front 9.  We were stuck behind a slow 4-some who wouldn't let me through even when the local left. Painted Desert was decent, just a bit far from the Strip where we were staying.

    • Honestly, unless there's something about that rough there that makes it abnormally penal or a lost ball likely, this might be the play. I don't know how the mystrategy cone works, but per LSW, you don't use every shot for your shot zones. In that scatter plot, you have no balls in the bunker, and 1 in the penalty area. The median outcome seems to be a 50 yard pitch. Even if you aren't great from 50 yards, you're better off there than in a fairway bunker or the penalty area on the right of the fairway. It could also be a strategy you keep in your back pocket if you need to make up ground. Maybe this is a higher average score with driver, but better chance at a birdie. Maybe you are hitting your driver well and feel comfortable with letting one rip.  I get not wanting to wait and not wanting to endanger people on the tee, but in a tournament, I think I value playing for score more than waiting. I don't value that over hurting people, but you can always yell fore 😆 Only thing I would say is I'm not sure whether that cone is the best representation of the strategy (see my comment above about LSW's shot zones). To me, it looks like a 4 iron where you're aiming closer to the bunker might be the play. You have a lot of shots out to the right and only a few to the left. Obviously, I don't know where you are aiming (and this is a limitation of MyStrategy), but it seems like most of your 4 iron shots are right. You have 2 in the bunker but aiming a bit closer to the bunker won't bring more of your shots into the bunker. It does bring a few away from the penalty area on the right.  This could also depend on how severe the penalties are for missing the green. Do you need to be closer to avoid issues around the green?  It's not a bad strategy to hit 6 iron off the tee, be in the fairway, and have 150ish in. I'm probably overthinking this.
