So i had a not so good round today and always when i dont have good momentum going it seems that bad shots from the past show up and make my life even more miserable...

Lets say, if i start missing a par3 to the left - i can almost bet on it, that i will miss it to the left as long as i finally pull one off and hit the green - that can take 1-2 weeks sometimes (i almost play daily).

When i try to cut a corner on a par 5 with my driver instead of hitting a draw or straight i hit a high fade. If i try to hit 3wood on the same hole (going for a straight shot) i hit that draw finding me in the woods...

Another example is an easy par 5 - wide open - the first time i played it, i hooked it left with my driver - the next 3 times - didnt matter what i hit - hook left - WTF???

Those shots are almost identical - they always show up in the same places, have the same trajectory and ball flight - so i guess my swing repeats itself in these spots - but just not the way its supposed to be.

If i play practice rounds with low hcps it often happens that they hit more balls after their ****ed up shots just to get the memory of the good shot as it appears to me.

How do you guys handle these spots or get rid of bad shots in your memory keeping a clean state of mind?

I had a bad round (irons & wedges ) on Thursday (following a very good round on Wednesday) and I was very tempted or go out last night or today but I decided to take a couple of days, reset, and probably hit it tomorrow. First good feeling shot will reset Thursday

I had a bad round (irons & wedges

I always had my best rounds after a break (of 2 weeks or so and some practice days after that) coming back in a neutral mind and after that hovering around a level and if i keep playing too much in a row my strokes go up after 2-3 weeks.

I always thought during the break i ingrain some of the stuff i practiced before - but i think i realize slowly that it only resets my memory for the nasty stuff that piled up during my playing time. Nevertheless - there got to be another option instead of taking a long break?

A night out on the town and get stinking drunk? Seriously, I don't know because I seem to be able to forget the bad shots pretty quickly and hold onto the good one for quite a while.

wow man you have the same problem my brother and cousin have..... you analyze all the bad things that can happen and you fill your mind with it...... my dad taught me if you look up after you took your stance it should only be to make sure your in your line...... THATS IT dont look at the bad...... for example we have 2 par 3 holes at our country club and they both have water for 150yds+ and my dad said if you get "im gonna go in the water" guess what....... your going in...... think positive man forget the bad you shouldent have to remember it....... believe in your shot, your clubs, and most important YOURSELF..... hope that helps

I've developed a philosophy that if you've hit good shots before you will hit them again. Your just going through a little slump. Just forget about it and try again and don't think about it. It's golf. Your going to hit bad shots.....everyone does. Even Tiger. If you play daily take a day or two off otherwise you'll burn yourself out and play worse.

Its all about your mindset. You've got to focus on the shot you are hitting at the time and forget about what happened in the past.
If you take this game too seriously, it will beat you every time.
