I have a chance to purchase a set of these irons. What do you guys think? I know they're quite a bit older but the guy told me they're great clubs.

Which Tour model?

Put a slightly better way: which specific models (which years) are you talking about?

Sorry, forgot to post that. It's the 91-94 model.

Nice, if I had the chance to get those irons, man I'd be happy . Even though I've never played them, I trust those are some great clubs. I'd love to get a vintage set like those ...

Very very nice! I always loved the look of those things, I had a few friends that used them during the 90's and they are a fine looking club. If you think you have what it takes to use a set of them then by all means try them, but you'll want to be catching everything right out of the middle.

Given your current handicap maybe you might want to ditch the longer irons from the set and replace them with hybrids for a bit more forgiveness, the 2 and 3 irons from that set aren't the sort of things you'd want to catch thin on a cold morning, you'd be wringing your fingers for the next 5 minutes.

Something else to keep in mind, if you look at the lofts on those clubs they are very traditional so don't be surprised if the 9 iron goes the same distance as your current PW so you may need to put some thought in to your wedge setup to work around it.

Very nice clubs, if you can use them well then you'll earn a lot of respect!

Thanks for the info. So far, I'm getting the hint that they're pretty hard clubs to play with?

I'm not the best player but I'm also not the worst. I think if I practice a lot with them, I'll get the hang of using them.

Dear lord, if 1991-94 is "vintage", I must be antique.

, I meant its pretty hard to get a set like those these days, for me anyway ...

A little more specifics and we could probably give you a really good answer.

Well, it's the Titleist Tour Model and he said the years are from 91-94. He's selling them for $60 and they're in excellent shape. The set consists of 4-PW and he's also throwing in a Titleist SW as well.

Another question I have is, are these blades similar to current blade style irons out on the market these days? I know blades are more of a players club and would definitely devote my time in getting used to these clubs. I play about 4-5 times a week.

For $60 in excellent shape I would jump all over this. What have you got to lose? If you decide they're too difficult to play you still have some gorgeous clubs to display in your home, office, etc.

I hope I'll be able to play with these clubs. They'll be my first set of blades if I do decide to pick these up.
