For years, I've used a 10 franc coin (from France) as my ball marker. It was reasonably small (but "meaty" [i.e. thick]) and it was two-tone: gold on the outside with silver on the inside.

Anyway, long story short, it's now gone. I believe it fell out of my bookbag on my flight to CA recently.

I have a few 1 Euro coins that are two-tone, and some other coins that I kind of like but none are THE ball mark.

So here's a dumb little contest: show me a picture of a ball mark (please no attachments - find an image online, email it to me, something). If I like it, and you send me a few (or one if it's somewhat valuable [<$25]), I'll give you a license to Scorecard .

I like odd shapes in coins (hexagons, pentagons maybe), weird colors, two-tone looks, coins with holes in the middle perhaps. I'm 50% Polish, was born in 1978... I dunno.

This idea may fall flat on its face, but hey, nothing lost if so.

(This ain't from Google, etc., BTW. I just pulled it from my world coins box and scanned it.)

Not worthy of a license, but I've always like the Canadian Tooney.

I can see Canada from here, but quite honestly, I don't remember the last time I saw a Tooney. If you have a few shiny ones to send me...

Dumb as it may sound, I might associate $2 with two-putting, which is never my goal. Yeah yeah, sounds bad, but it took me a few months to get over 10 being binary for 2. I had to convince myself the 10 was a good reminder of excellence, like on a scale of 1 to 10. Yeah, so I'm a bit superstitious.

Uhm, a free license to Scorecard? What's on the other side? Mine had the Vetruvian man, I think. Were they all like that? Send me a PM if you want to suggest something else I could give you.

This is a Polsih 2 ZLOTE coin.

The two on it is nice because it reminds you, no more than 2 putts.

BTW i probably posted this no more than 30 seconds before you posted so i came up with the two putt thing all on my own.

Yeah, but that's contrary to how I like to putt. If you're thinking "two putt" you're not thinking "make THIS putt." (I'd put a smiley here, but I over-use smileys as it is.)

That's a PRETTY coin. I like it. Anyone have one? I like it more than the all-silver (Polish) one. Might even be able to look past the "2" on it.

I'm afraid I've only got the one I use.

I guess you could always go with the Looney then.

Yeah, unfortunately it's just one color.

Heh heh. But c'mon, if I was content with just anything for my ball marker I'd have found one already. Heh. I have a bunch of 1 Euro coins and some others from Germany and other European countries. Some Mexican coins, too, from years ago when McDonald's gave them out with Happy Meals.

Scorecard would be very kind. The other side has an angel of some variety, holding a torch aloft.

I'll be glad to mail it tomorrow - PM your address. It's 12:25am here and I need to be on the first tee in less than 7 hours. G'nite!

    • I’ve recently started KBs too and really enjoy it. I have one day of armour building complex and one day of a mobility routine. Adding in a speed training day too.    which routines do you do @Elmer
    • Again, I’m not an expert so take it with a grain of salt My question is whether laying back even further becomes too conservative and that strategy is suboptimal as a result? Essentially what’s the cost of guaranteed longer second shot vs the x% risk for hitting the bunker? I think the optimal way to answer the question is looking at strokes gained, in consideration of the hazards and penalties, and picking the strategy that maximizes SG off the tee. I’ve seen some apps that do this but I’m not sure how accurate they are.   And again, asking all this so I can learn what I should be doing in these situations rather than questioning your approach Bill. I would give an example of the course I’m joining this year where I plan to aim at the bunker, but I don’t want to take over your swing thread any further!
    • What @DeadMan said. From the satellite it looks like there's tall grass to the right, long of the fairway post-dog-leg. But left it just looks like regular rough all the way to the neighboring tee boxes. If that's true I'm aiming left edge of the green and bombs away every time, hoping for a 30-70 yard up and down opportunity.
    • What's the case against blasting a driver at the green? I'm guessing it puts the penalty area/fescue too much into play, but if that's just standard rough around the green, there would be a good case for it. If it's not driver, then I agree with your approach. The one thing I would add is to shade your aim towards the bunkers vs. center of the fairway. Hitting out of a bunker is (marginally) better than a penalty drop.
    • Yes, if you are gonna layup, then layup. No need to nickle and dime a few extra yards and bring bunker back into play.
