Recently I've begun hitting high draws with my irons. This concerns me because a month ago I was battling the hooks. I know its tough without looking at my swing, but what might be causing this, if it wasn't happening a week ago. Could it be my position to the ball? To close, to far, to up in the stance? Thanks.

So...whats the problem? I'll take a high draw over a hook any day.

I am always fighting the hook and these are some of things that I do to prevent the hook:

1) Make sure my hands are further away from my body.
a) I am aware that my hands have to be further away from my body and I check this everytime as part of my pre shot routine.

2) check my grip position
a) I want to have a neutral grip.

3) make sure I am making a complete turn with my shoulder and hips on my back swing.
a) my take away is nice and slow to ensure that I make a complete rotation of my shoulders and hips, otherwise I have a tendencies to pull hook my shots.

4) Make sure the line I am taking my club back in not too inside.
a) I actually take the club on a straight line until I am parallal with the ground and my club is on line with the target then take the club straight up and I found that I can hit the ball straighter. If you take the club just outside the line on your backswing you can fade the ball.

5) I will swing at 80% - 90% percent
a) If I am not trying to hit the ball hard my tendencies is to pull hook the shot.

6) I have learned to fade the ball and draw the ball.
a) Once I have found my straight ball, now I simple turn the club face slightly closed and take my new regular swing for a gentle draw and to play a fade, I can take the club just outside the line on my backswing.

good luck.
