So a week ago I found i was crushing my drives, my hybrid was great, and down to the long irons was going well. When it came to the short irons, it was a mess and everything did not feel like a good swing at all. Doing some thinking, I redid my backswing, and followed Hogan's glass pane idea and it has worked perfectly. Everything is clicking now and I could not be happier. My only concern is this. When I step up to the ball with a driver or wedge, the only thing I think of in the entire swing is to just follow the pane in the backswing, and and then I'm good. Is this a sound way to swing? Should I consciously go on plane with my backswing, or should it happen naturally with all clubs like my downswing is? I would much rather have the same backswing with all clubs and for it to be on plane, but the problem was that I was swinging to flat for my short irons, while on my driver it was perfect. Any ideas?

I'm in the same boat you are so I would be interested in someone's answer. My main objective on every swing is to bring the club back on plane. I would love not to have to think about it but I don't know. The thought has really helped me.
