I couldn't edit my original post to add the new videos, so I'll post them in a new thread. Here are my new swing videos (old swing). What can you tell me is wrong?

The only thing I noticed (other than your nice high socks and shorts combo) was that your left wrist in cupped at the top, which leads to a slice. Try and restrict your wrist and forearm movement.

without being able to see the slow motion its difficult to really see whats going on in your swing, however i'll comment on what i am able to pick up on.

You make a good shoulder rotation and your lower body seems pretty quiet. Are you flexible enough to restrict your hip turn more? There will always be natural turn and what you have going isnt really particularly bad, but if you look at guys like Tiger, they really focus on trying to restrict their hips from moving much. It might be something to work on.

Also i'd like to see the angle on the downswing that you attack the ball at. Its hard to see if you are coming in from the inside enough. This allows you to really swing to 1 oclock, which allows you to use the club how it was designed to be used---you want to be swinging on an arc. And essentially it looks like you are going from the inside, however it seems like you may have the same issue that i'm trying to hammer out.

It looks like you may not be fully releasing the club. After impact, it almost seems like you have a forced finish. You know where you need to be, but you arent allowing your club to take you there. If you were to stop your swing naturally, would it really take you all the way to the top? For me, my hands stop in line with my ears. It really looks like a full finish. My belt buckle points and the target, and my chest and shoulders are facing forward....however it really isnt a natural finish. I'm taking my arms to that position because i know it needs to be there.

Do you feel that you are allowing your right arm to come over top of your left arm during your release? Google the "split-grip" drill to see if you are getting that feeling. By not coming in from the inside enough, you may be limiting to what extent you can release the club. The proper golf swing is designed to create a natural draw of the shot because of the angles at which you address it. You can certainly hang off on your release to shoot arrows at the target, but that really isnt very repeatable. How would you describe the flight of a well struck shot? Does it draw? and if it doesnt, does it leak out to the right sometimes? If so, you might not be releasing enough.

Swing academy allows you to watch the videos in slow motion. See if you can get urs on there.

Overall tho, great tempo. Is that the same tempo you use to hit balls? Sometimes people slow it down when there is no ball in front of them, and then tend to swing harder when you place a ball there.

But yea, nice swing overall.

Pretty decent swing, but to honest, I need to see you hitting some balls. Practice swings look A LOT different sometimes (most of the time) than the real swing when you place a golf ball in front of people...

Rubbery - Could you describe what cupping my wrist means? I have never heard this before?

m11 - what is swinging to 1 o clock? When I watched the videos in Slo-mo myself, I noticed I take my hands very far inside. I was going to work on keeping them in front of my chest. I do have a slice with my driver which I think happens due to an open face/outside swing.

To answer your question: My normal ball flight on a well struck ball is a nice straight shot or a slight push to the right of my target. I am inconsistent to a large degree right now though. Sometimes I hit a draw, pull the ball a bit, push the ball, shank :( every so often.

Thanks for your analysis and the tips!

CG - I hear you. I can already tell you that I choke when the ball is in front of me. I'll get vids at the range soon...

Thanks.

Swinging to one oclock refers to the inside out motion that you need to recreate in order to allow the club to work how it was designed.

Basically, take your swing to the top. Then start your downswing...half way down, the butt of your club should be pointing to 1 o'clock...like a clock was on the ground...12 is straight ahead towards the target...6 is behind you...3 is were your belt buckle points at address. Then after impact, before you fully release...basically halfway up to your finish, the club should be pointed at 1 oclock again. You want to promote this feeling during your natural swing. Just to add, it comes pretty easily if your shoulder turn is proper. Regarding cupping your wrist....it means that your hand is bent back..as opposed to being straight in line with your arm. Thats about as far as i can take you with that, im sure Rubbery can help you out with a better explanation.

    • Agree. The next omission needs to be that ridiculous team concept. Nobody cares about a team when they really don’t represent anything except being a group of diminished morality and/or washed up pro golfers. Or wait, we’ve also got total nobodies who’ve accomplished nothing who now get a participation trophy! Doesn’t that sound invigorating!
    • LIV moving to 72 holes is a subtle admission that 54 holes was nothing but a joke all along.
    • I was going to start a thread, but this seems like the place.  Yesterday I played my matchplay match at my local club.  My opponent is a notorious sandbagger by reputation.  The pro once pulled his tournament rounds from the past several years and said that it is impossible his tournament rounds are legit based on his handicap. here is what happened last night.  I am getting 4 shots from him.  His current handicap index is 15.3 i shot 45 on the front.   Was down 4 after nine, he had three birdies and shot even par. I was closed out on thirteen, we halved with a bogey.  That bogey put him one over par for his round.   He then took a triple on 14 and then left. As if that wasn’t bad enough, he lied about his score.   I wrote down on my scorecard what the score was.  He put higher values that didn’t affect the outcome of the match to pad his score and apparently make it not look as obvious.   He shot 36 on the front, but claimed 40.  The higher values for his score were in the online scoring app our club uses.  He did it this way: I won #7. He had a 2 foot putt for par that if he made would still lose the hole.   He picked up and said it didn’t matter since I won.  He took a 5 instead of a 4 after picking up a gimme. on #8 his approach shot on this par 4 was 8 inches.  I verbally conceded the putt but I had hit into a hazard.  I finished the hole with a 6.  Instead of birdie he put in for par. on #9, another par 4, his approach was to 18 inches.  I missed my par putt and then knowing how close I verbally conceded the putt.  I missed my bogey putt, he never conceded mine.  Instead of birdie he put down a bogey. He padded his score by 4 shots on the front.  And then did again on 10.  I rinsed one and made 6 on a par 4.  I putted out and he was fishing balls out of the lake so I drove off to the next tee.  He had 15 feet laying two but claimed a 5.     love to know the odds of a 15 handicap being even thru 12 holes on a round of golf.
