Dang! One more rotation and it would have been mine.
Struck a killer 2nd shot with my hybrid and it just stuck right up next to the pin and I choked!
Oh well, next time! Felt good though for the first time.

I drove the green on a par 4 just yesterday. I continued to 3 putt for par.
So, don't feel too bad.

I did this about 2 months ago. I believe the distance was about the same maybe a 5 footer. I havent seen an eagle putt since.....

I missed a foot bogey putt on the 17th (par 3) in competition today, the only shot I didn't have any focus on and paid the price for it.

Here's a lesson kids, regardless of the apparent ease of the shot, give it your full attention and follow your pre shot routine religiously.

Ha, thanks guys.
Good way to look at it.
I've been on the green a few times for eagle, but so dang far away it never occured to me, basically knowing the chance for holing it was slim, but today, ahh shoulda, coulda, nada!
Felt good, that is for sure. Then the next hole par3, I drilled a 15 footer from the fringe, go figure. Ended up being a decent round of 44, but should have been a 43! :>)

I feel ya. I had a 10 foot putt for birdie. Somehow 3putted it and turned it into a bogey. Didnt know it was possible to 3 putt from 10 feet.

That sucks man. The other day I was on the 18th, a mid-range par 5. I hit my third shot from about 200 out just to just outside the fringe in the rough, about 10 feet from the pin. I proceeded to skull my chip, send it 60 feet from the pin, and 3 putt for a very frustrating double bogey!

I know what its like, I've had several 7 and 8 footers for eagle, all missed. Just had one my last round, a 5w from 224 out and I missed the 7 footer.

    • This topic can be whatever you'd like it to be. If you're working with an instructor, you may have to mention it occasionally, but people will respect that and you can use this as a diary of sorts.
    • Look at Kevin trying to rationalize his small minority vote. 😄
    • It's all good, man. I appreciate the discussion.   The hole slopes right, towards the penalty area. That's the part just past the cart path that isn't mowed. You can land a ball on the fairway that ends up in it if the ground is firm enough.  Everything that's brown in the satellite image isn't rough. It's fescue, which even during this time of year is tall enough that just finding a ball in it can be hard. Bunkers might as have red stakes around them - I read that in a book, once. So having set that table, here's what the shot cone looks like if I try to play for what you're suggesting: I just don't see that as the optimal play. I need to get out of there with no worse than 5, not try to make 3 and end up with 6 or more. It's a short hole and my strength is in my iron play. I'm actually oddly not much better from 50-100 yards than I am from 100-150 yards. It's like a 4% difference in green success rate and 8' closer in proximity. I don't see that as worth putting trouble into play off the tee for.
    • Day 137 & 138- Forgot to post yesterday but same thing. Slow,  short swings with short practice club.
    • I actually did post a video of my swing today. Those are total distances from my Garmin watch. I don't have as good of an idea with my carry distances. I should go to a range with Trackman some day and get them recorded.
