Are these distance indicators ALWAYS to the centre of the green? I know course markers are described in each courses scorecard as either to the front or centre of the green but no reference is ever made to the indicators on the Tee box. ??

They are normally measured down the center of the fairway to the center of the green. If there is a dogleg, then it's still down the center of the fairway to the center of the bend, then on down the center to the green.

I did play a course once that said all distance markers were measured to the front of the green, which does make a bit of sense because it's a more definable point (add 10 yards to get near the middle), but I've only seen it that one time. That was a couple of decades before anyone ever heard of GPS or laser rangefinders.
