it's seeming like callaway is signing all these young guns to contracts. i do wonder what happened to ricky barnes after his big deal though.

A lot of bad play and a very notable temper tantrum on the course. That's about all I remember of him, although I was a fan of him in the beginning. I would like to see him straighten up a bit.

As for Pressel, I'm glad to see she signed with Callaway. I think it's good for Callaway to get the younger talent, but I really wish some would start playing to their potential. (CH3)

Here is a little updated info on Barnes.

"At 24, Barnes is not yet facing financial problems. He endorses Oakley, Ping, Callaway, you name it. He is tall, fit, photogenic, bursting with personality. But after contending - he finished 21st - at the '04 Masters, upon winning $78,000 in the '04 Phoenix FBR Open and teasing the golf world with his potential, he has gone surprisingly flat and has no real status on any tour. He finished 80th on the Nationwide Tour money list this year ($60,614). He sometimes went three weeks between tournaments, failing to qualify or receive an exemption. " "Barnes, also a former U.S. Amateur champion, is now 0-for-3 at Q school. After opening with an 81 at Bayonet GC in Seaside, Calif., the former Arizona All-American fought back with three-straight 70s, but finished two strokes from advancing. He should still get some Nationwide Tour chances. This year he was second on that tour in putting, fifth in all-around, and 22nd in scoring -- but 82nd on the money list." He is also listed as 61st on the australian tour order of merit earning $19,511 He has some conditional status on the nationwide tour but not full status. I bet callaway still shakes their head in disbelief over that mistake. He also signed with gaylord managment back in 2003. Callaway's year ended up with only six victories. One by olin brown, one from michael campbell, and four from phil mickelson. Thats not all that great considering they have 29 pga tour staff members. Maybe they will hit the mark with pressel. She definitely has the potential but so did many others signed by callaway.
