Anyone here wear gloves on BOTH hands?

Confession: I do.

The way I got started with it was because my father had to wear them on both hands. My father's line of work required him to wash his hands frequently every day with very abusive soaps and cleaners (he was a doctor). Over time, he literally wore down the ridges of his fingerprints and some areas of his palms, mostly the areas that covered the joints.

He had to wear gloves for many different activities, including even driving a car (in the summer, hot steering wheels were especially painful to his hands). This extended to golf, where he wore gloves on both hands. At one time, he played to a 5 handicap.

I picked up the practice from him, but for a different reason. My palms hardly ever sweat, but the backs of my hands might as well have fire hydrants attached to the back of them. Wearing the gloves fixes that problem. It also prevents me from blistering (which is a big concern of mine, since I'm a bowler and can't afford to have problems around my right thumb area).

I've never felt abnormal doing things this way. When I saw the "do you take off your glove to putt" thread (and I don't; both gloves stay on), it hit me that people probably would think me strange. Anyone else ever experimented with this?

I used to but I realized that I needed it because I was gripping the club too tight. Now I hold it lighter and no more need of it.

On a related note, I can't swing a club unless I've got a pretty firm grip, particularly not in the fairway. If I don't, the club feels like it wants to torque out of my hands during and after impact. Do you not have that problem?

I have and do if it's really cold outside, like in late Oct, early Nov in the fall, but other then that no, in fact I don't wear a glove at all when playing.....

When I played last Sunday afternoon, I started to wish I had a second glove. It was 99 degrees with a ton of humidity, so I started pouring sweat while we were out there. My shirt was soaked, my poor towel was being used as a sweat rag instead of cleaning my clubs.

My glove-free hand kept getting sweat on it, making it hard to hold the clubs.

One of the players in my usual Sunday foursome uses two gloves. I've never asked him why. As for me, I just recently went back to wearing a glove at all again. It's been unusually hot this summer and it's the first time I've really felt the need to wear one at all.

From the department of golf-topics-and-prime-time-television crossovers, the character "Dr. Cox" on the TV show "Scrubs" wore two *black* gloves (oh yes, I said black -- see the thread on that topic) during his grudge match with Dr. Kelso, in which the metaphorical prize was the soul of the young medical resident, JD.

I always thought that was something of a production oversight, as I didn't think anyone but two-gloves Gainey really wore two gloves. "Not that there's anything wrong with it."

I used to wear black baseball gloves on both hands when I was little, I had a reason back then, but now I don't remember why.

I've seriously thought about it. Down here it gets pretty steamy and after two or three holes my right hand is routinely slipping on the grip.

I've worn two since I started really getting into golf, because I didn't know any better. I mean, I knew most people used only one, but I didn't realize how uncommon two gloves were. A question I have is why is it so common to wear only ONE glove? It seems to me that if one is helpful, why aren't two?

I wear two for similar reasons to those mentioned above. I can grip the club better, and the calluses on my hands aren't nearly as severe. It's especially beneficial if you are hitting a lot of range balls. I can't think of a good reason to wear only one glove, except that it's quicker to remove.

I think it comes down to a desire to limit any interference in the feel of the fingers of the right hand (for right handers) on the club.

I wear gloves on both hands, always felt strange to me trying to wear just the top hand glove after wearing batting gloves on both since I was little.

If I had a glove for my right hand I'd defo wear it... unfortunately I don't. Would help me with my blisters.

Things I Am Good at in Golf

- Hitting it in the drink
- Finding the rough with my drive
- Staying in the bunker- Hitting grassburners all the way to the hole- Three putting- Posting over par on 18 in only 9 holes- Swinging and missing with an iron

I have a pair of rain gloves for when it's pouring and a pair of cold-weather gloves for low temps. Both come in handy here in Massachusetts.
But the odd thing I saw last week in a charity tourney I was playing--a guy in my 4some wore two gloves ON HIS LEFT HAND. Yes, at the same time,one overtop of the other. All day. Never seen THAT before.
Swing hard in case you hit it.

      You might want to try a can of Bar Keepers Friend. Yes, it is abrasive, so just wet a sponge and dab it on. It has oxalic acid (no bleach like "Comet" kitchen cleanser), and it works wonders on stainless steel and other metals. Try it on a small area first to see what happens.

      Fair   My uneducated thought: the big miss is the penalty area. If you want to optimize score, missing into the bunker (likely 5) is better than missing right into the penalty (possible 6). With that, your strategy seems sound and if you hit a committed shot, you get a bunker 5% of the time, take your medicine and hopefully get a putt for par but accept bogey. You may find yourself in a penalty situation 2-3% of the time and accept the associated outcome. The vast majority of the time though you are giving yourself a good approach shot into the green.

      I walk 30 mins a day on my lunch break. It is not very intense (since i dont want to get sweaty in my work clothes), so just a touch above leisurely. 3 days a week I walk on the treadmill for 60 mins. I alternate the incline from 4 to 10 for a couple minutes, once every ten minutes. I lift my kettlebells nearly everyday. I have a couple complex routines. I find just 15 minutes and my heart rates is elevated
