Should I even worry about a draw right now?

I'm a high handicapper as you can see and I've been slicing my drives ever since I can remember, but lately I've been much better and haven't hit nearly as many slices. The other day I played 18 and only hit two slices on my tee shots. Now, I pound out a handful or two of perfectly straight, beautiful drives and other times I end up hitting a low, snap hook. This is only with my driver though, irons I usually hit really well. Always straight with a few pushes or pulls, but always a straight flight.

Eventually I'd like to be able to play a draw. My question is, right now, should I even worry about it? Or maybe I could try working a draw with my irons?

I would say just try to hit a nice straight ball. Why add more complication to your game by trying to draw and fade and all that stuff right now. Straight is good.

Hybrid SQ SUMO2 20* stiff
Irons - CCi steel stiff

A straight ball is a thing of beauty!!!

When I started, I hit many....many slices with my driver.

I went to a pro and asked him to help me stop. He showed me how to hit an exagerated hook and then we worked on what a draw felt like.

Those first draws and straight shots I hit over the next few rounds were very confidence inspiring and probably what kept me playing the game.

One lesson isn't that much to spend (time or money) to try something new.

Just work on the basic mechanics. When they get better you will start hitting some draws.

Technically, if you line up square to your target, and do everything correctly (grip, path, plane, etc.), this should produce a nice tight right-to-left draw. This is the swing you should strive for. If you slice it or hook it excessively, then you're not doing it correctly and are probably making small compensations to keep the ball in play.

It's virtually impossible to consistently hit a 'straight' ball as there will always be sidespin one way or the other to some degree.
