Today during try-outs I had the craziest nine I ever had. I was pretty pleased with a 44 on the front. Well I had bogey, for the first hole, then this is where it gets crazy. The 11th hole is an 150 yard par 3 downhill over water. Well I hit an 8 iron, and it hit of the sole, and went into the water. I proceeded to the drop area, and went into the water again. Then my next shot from the drop area, I went into the sand. Got on the green two putted for an eight. I went bogey 12 and 13, so hole number 14 is another par 3 over water, the yardage is 160 uphill. Well I hit a fat 7 iron into water, so went to the drop area came short of the green. Chipped then 3 putted for a 7. I was really mad because i was playing the first 5 holes at 12 over par. Got to 15 got a par. Then on 16 I had to play out of a pine tree, and bogeyed. 17 I made an nice par. 18 which is a par 5. Tee shot went 3 iron and soled it just to the start of the fairway, hit 3 wood for next shot ,from that point I was 100 out. I hit a pitching wedge over these tall tree to 8 feet and made a birdy. Ended up with a 48 not terrible considering I played the par 3's at 9 over par. So what is your craziest nine.

It was probably today. I haven't been playing much golf lately (1 actual round in the last month and 2 trips to a par-3 course) but for some reason decided to play the 7,334 yard tips. Bad choice. I shot a 55 on the front which is my worst 9 hole score in a long long time.

The back was when it got weird though. I made a double bogey with a drop on the first hole, which was what I expected. Then I proceeded to par the next 2 holes scrambling each time. I then birdied the short par 4 13th thanks to an easy 15 yard up and down. Another green miss, contributed to the 3-wood I sprayed into the heather and the impossible chip that followed, on the easy par 5 14th led to a near chip-in birdie.

I was a little upset I missed what I thought was an easy birdie, and was determined to make up for it on the second par 5 in a row. I smoked my drive down the pipe, and had a 2-hybrid into the green. I wanted a birdie so I went flag hunting on a tricky pin position. My shot landed about 6 feet short and kicked to about pin high just off the green, but with none of it to work with. My only choice was a nice high pitch shot. I stepped up and slide my 56 right under the ball and watched that gorgeous sphere sail right into the bottom of the cup. Slam dunk eagle and -1 through 6 on the back.

After 2 pars on 16 and 17 the adrenaline really started going. I had never finished 9 holes under par before and seeing as the 18th was only about 360 yards I knew this was going to be it. It was a dogleg right over water with about a 225 yard carry over the longest part. The way I had been ripping the big dog it was a no-brainer what to do. I let the thing eat and watched my ball take off in the right direction. Unfortunately that's the only thing that was good about it. It fell about a yard short and fell right in the water. Big time blow-up. On my re-tee I did what I should have done and pulled the 3-wood. I aimed for a spot where I was sure I would carry it. Nuh-uh. A push slice landed me right in the middle of the lake. I just dropped another ball and ripped it over the fairway into the heather, hacked it out, chipped on, and two-putted. 9. +4 40. Damn me. I tried not to be too upset though, after all 11-17 was probably the best 7 hole stretch of my life.

First hole is a par 5. Had a 20 footer with about a 3 foot left to right break for birdie... sank it.

Second hole is a 300 yard par 4, with a sharp dogleg to the right. Hit an iron to the dogleg. PW into the green....but the green is really slippery. Couldn't get it to stop in the middle of the green. It collected to the down side of the green, on the fringe. Had 40' and had to aim about 15' to the right. Lipped it out. Tapped in for par.

I thought I was off to a great start.... and the putting was on FIRE.

3rd hole is an easy, uphill, 165 yard par 3. Pushed it right. Tried to get too cute hitting a SW through tree branches. Long story short; nearly chipped in for bogey...took a Double bogey.

4th hole; bogey. (par 4)

5th hole; double bogey. (par 4)

6th hole, 168 uphill slightly... nearly aced it. Tapped in for birdie.

7th hole; par 5; double bogey.

8th hole, par 4, par.

9th hole, par 4, triple bogey.

Putting was great; everything else was inconsistant. I literally hit some of the best shots of my life coupled with some of the worst shots of my life...

I once shot a 2 over par 38 on the back nine of my regular course. Not that big a deal except when I looked over the scorecard I noticed that I didn't write down a '4' at all. I had three birdies (3,3,3), three bogeys (5,5,6), two pars (3,5), and a double (5).

I will judge my rounds much more by the quality of my best shots than the acceptability of my worse ones.

Mine would have to be about two weeks ago, where i shot my best score at the course i usually play at and from the tips. it's about 7,200 yards and a rating of 72.6 with a slope of 125. That day there was 35km winds out and went with and against us about the same amount in the eighteen holes.

What was crazy was i shot my best game with those winds, and i have 3 driver that were over 300 yards (317,333,356) but the 333 one was with no help from wind as the wind died at hole 16 to 18, hole 17 it was a 370 yard par 4 with a massive water hazard taking away the direct route to the pin and the hole right side. Basically the fairway is on the left and taking the chance from the tips to clear water to a certain point is major risky. I had major decisions to make as i figured out that if i par'd out from hole 15 to finish that i would shoot my best score.

So i decided to go for it, why not right? Well not only did i clear the water i carried over the 100 yard marker and almost made it to the very distant sand trap! I ended up to par the 15th, 17th, bogey'd the 16th, and birdied the 18th the long par five. Such a great round!!

we were playing a bestball type tournament on Sunday. I shot 38 on the front 9, 2 doubles, 2 birdies and 5 pars, and only 1 of the pars wasn't a tap in. Blew up on two holes on the back 9 for a 49, big contrast!!

Thanks. Tomorrow is the last day of try-outs, as long as I shot well on the front I'm pretty sure I'll have a spot on the team. They average your nine's and drop your highest score.

I can remember one nine where I had six birdies and three bogies. That was pretty crazy.
