Greetings,

Just started playing again this year...played years back for a few years. Beginning of this season i purchased a new set of clubs listed in my sig minus the driver. i had a maxfli 9.5 regular stiffness driver at the time.

i couldn't hit the driver straight to save my life....maybe 1 out of 10 times the ball would go straight..

after talking with a sales rep at the local sports store, he took a look at my swing and suggested a stiff 10.5 club. i purchased the taylor made and i hit the thing dead straight 8 out of 10 times.

this got me thinking ... maybe i bought the clubs i have now a bit too soon.

i was reading a post about a guy putting together his own clubs piece by piece from golfsmith.com and was very happy with the results.

i plan on playing golf for a very long time(now that i have a baby boy and my nightlife sports are no longer an option...golf is my only "get out of the house" activity).

question i have for you guys ...

should i put together my own set? it seems like it would be a fun adventure...and after seeing the difference a proper club can do to my game ... i'm all for it.

if it's a wise choice ... how do i go about finding the correct information for the clubs i need? example ... regular or stiff shafts for hybrids, irons, woods, etc. ... proper club face type, grip type, etc.

thanks for reading this mess of a post

I would (and have done this) find a pro whose judgement you trust and get fitted. Some people push certain brands. If you already have a brand you want, pay the person for the fitting and buy your preferred brand according to your measurements. I would recommend using a trusted pro instead of some random dude at Dick's (just using Dick's as an example).

In my bag:
