I have a TM Z TP 54* that i bought about a month ago, I have played about 10-20 rounds on it, at the start, I used to get amazing spin, now, I get nothing at all, it is really annoying, the other day I had 3 approach shots land pin high, and then roll past.

The grooves cant be shot, Like i said I've only played 10-20 rounds on it.

The club face is perfectly clean.

I don't even get check around the greens on bump and runs, and no. I am not swinging any differently.

Am I missing something? Or is 10-20 rounds all it can handle?

Hmm, that's really strange. The grooves are still deep? What are the green conditions like?

With a Z TP and a Pro V1...you should be sucking em back.

They were Pro V1's and Although the greens were a bit spongey I still should be getting a little, but on the flip side, I played another course where the greens were hard as rock and still getting squat.

Maybe you just need to get a groove sharpener and freshen the grooves up a bit. Just because they dont look worn doesnt mean that the square edges arent a bit rounded off.

I strongly suggest

No. That won't be it. Not after 10-20 rounds, and probably not really after 100-200.

Grooves on new clubs will wear slightly in the first few rounds, then settle in. At first most new clubs spin "too much." Then they wear in, and give consistent performance for a long time. In other words, Dent, you're simply not the type of guy who spins the ball back with a set of wedges. You probably don't with your PW or 9I either. So unless you want to replace wedges as often as a PGA Tour player (and they wear theirs in the first day by hitting as many balls as you've hit in your 20 rounds), that's likely the performance you're going to have to live with. Why don't you spin the ball back? Contact, angle of attack, speed - same reasons as anyone else who can't.

That's it. Get one from there. Pretty cheap and extremely durable.

You are probably right. I must have been only checking it because of the club, not really me per say.

I dont know about yours, but ive been playing a demo of theirs, ( like from a demo day, so its been hit hundreds of times all over the face) and i still get pretty good spin.. Like with a pro v, and a worn spin mill i average like 2 feet back, so maybe you got a bad one?

Just play it pretty far back in your stance and really hit down on it. I do it with my SM's, and I get every single shot from 60+ yds. out to spin back.

If you play a wedge to far back its easy to shank it,could have been that you were hitting down wind either, its very hard to get back spin on a wedge down wind.Personally i don't like the ball back spinning to much,i usually spin back too far.But as somebody said your probably not hitting it correct to get back spin.

Well with my 60* cg14 I don't get much spin with it anymore. Not sure why either. It is the balck pearl version and the middle of the face is silver now after about 6 months use. moral of the story is that I will get a chrome one next time.

You have been recommending this wedge quite a bit too. I am suprised by what is happening. You can try something like www.groovesharpener.com . It works wonders if the grooves are a little dull. I dont think that is the problem though. A soft green the ball should spin back plenty. Have you tried it with your regular PW and see if any of the results are different. (meaning more or less spin than usual?).

Dude, it's you. I am playing with the same wedges I've had for 14 years. Today I had a 40 yard pitch shot and my son marveled that I made the ball do a one hop and stop. I grant you that when the club is brand spanking new there's just so much grab but you've got to do your part. There's absolutely no way that wedge is "worn out" already.

I know it's me, But I used to be able to spin it the exact same way I was hitting before. Like I said, I'll give it another shot.

Suprisingly today, my PW was spinning like my 54* was today, it actually had alot of bite, alot more than my 54*
