I was thinking of buying a and I was going to put my Odyssey cover on it so it doesn't get stolen.

Anyone else do this?

Why would you need to do that? Keep your clubs in sight at all times, don't leave them unattended, and you shouldn't have a problem.

My friend got a club stolen just by leaving his bag outside the pro shop when he went in to buy a bucket of balls...

As stupid as it might look, take your putter with you. The Cover almost makes the putter, those things are nice looking. Or ask your friend to get you a bucket, or ask him to tend your bag.

I thought the whole point of a scotty cameron putter was because it was a piece of art why would you want to hide such a beautiful club in an oddessy head cover, if you really want to be on the safe side just put your rain cover for you bag on.

Yeah, I love the covers...I just wanted to be on the safe side. I'll probably end up w/ a Scotty cover.

Anyone use a "disguised" cover?

I wouldn't be buying it because it's a "piece of art". I'd be buying it for the feel, confidence, and performance.

Why not just get a plain black putter cover? You should be able to buy one at any sporting goods store for pretty cheap.
That way, people will think you just have some crappy old putter and wont even give it a second thought.

Whats in my :sunmountain: C-130 cart bag?

Thats an Idea, I just really don't see the problem in being with your bag at all times. Even if I have to go inside I still keep it in view through the window.

the time it takes someone to take your putter and start running, and the time it takes you to get some balls or what not, I'm sure you can still see them running away with a putter.

At your age, I would concentrate on your stroke. Each month you seem to be getting better, that is awesome. You have a great set of gear and it has been fun watching you build this bag. If you like your putter, keep at it. Your handicap is starting to come down quite a bit. Every change you make, might effect that.

X2, I remember when you had all that Golden Bear equipment, you sure built up your bag fast, but I don't remember what your older handicap was. good job.

First, the idea that people would steal gera from a fellow golfer is just, well..... sad. Next I think that you might want to stick w/ your current putter and wait for your stroke to improve. Remember, it's not only the putter, it's also the man using it. And congrats on the bag you've built and improving your handicap. I wish I had a set-up like you did at your age!!

I built my whole bag just by selling stuff around the house that I don't use anymore, and then selling the old equipment to my dad for a small price.

I just pulled the trigger on a Newport Studio Style...didn't come with a headcover, I'll get one in a few weeks when I muster up the cash.

This will freak out many Cameron Lovers. i use a Cameron Flange when I play on better greens. I spray painted my Cameron Flange and then scraped off the paint when tacky with a thumb nail so that it looks like and old barrel putter. No one know its a Cameron except for me. It still putts wonderfully and no one wants to steal it. The most I have every lost was at a country club with a status membership.

    • I’ve recently started KBs too and really enjoy it. I have one day of armour building complex and one day of a mobility routine. Adding in a speed training day too.    which routines do you do @Elmer
    • Again, I’m not an expert so take it with a grain of salt My question is whether laying back even further becomes too conservative and that strategy is suboptimal as a result? Essentially what’s the cost of guaranteed longer second shot vs the x% risk for hitting the bunker? I think the optimal way to answer the question is looking at strokes gained, in consideration of the hazards and penalties, and picking the strategy that maximizes SG off the tee. I’ve seen some apps that do this but I’m not sure how accurate they are.   And again, asking all this so I can learn what I should be doing in these situations rather than questioning your approach Bill. I would give an example of the course I’m joining this year where I plan to aim at the bunker, but I don’t want to take over your swing thread any further!
    • What @DeadMan said. From the satellite it looks like there's tall grass to the right, long of the fairway post-dog-leg. But left it just looks like regular rough all the way to the neighboring tee boxes. If that's true I'm aiming left edge of the green and bombs away every time, hoping for a 30-70 yard up and down opportunity.
    • What's the case against blasting a driver at the green? I'm guessing it puts the penalty area/fescue too much into play, but if that's just standard rough around the green, there would be a good case for it. If it's not driver, then I agree with your approach. The one thing I would add is to shade your aim towards the bunkers vs. center of the fairway. Hitting out of a bunker is (marginally) better than a penalty drop.
    • Yes, if you are gonna layup, then layup. No need to nickle and dime a few extra yards and bring bunker back into play.
