I'm thinking about getting one used after I try one out. Just want to get an idea on how it feels, and whether or not you like it. It'd be my first SC putter, and I've had my eye on this putter for 10 years. It's only now that I can afford a good putter... :p

Don't have that exact model, but I just plunged down the money for a Scotty a few days ago and it arrived today.

It's WELL worth the money. The feel, balance, looks...everything...just flat out amazing. You won't be disappointed in a Cameron.

Go try it out first if you can.

Don't flat out buy a Cameron just because...I tried a few SCs the other day and had some I really preferred over others.

I have the Newport II, trust me its worth it!

http://thesandtrap.com/forum/showthr...t=16271&page;=5 post #43 for my pics the key is to find a well used model on ebay and have it refinished outside of the cameron studio, there are several craftsmen who I have come to know who's work is on par or even better than camerons when it comes to custom finish applications and plating

I wish

I would say ask around on CameronCollectors but they would probably shoot you for actually using a putter to putt.

Go try it out first if you can.

The putter was released in 1996-1997... you'd have to find a friend to get your hands on these

you will most likely never find this putter in a used bin

I'm thinking of getting one on ebay, but they're all quite pricey. Too bad that this is valued for collectors and not just gamers... But it's soooo pretty!!!

I have the German stainless steel newport 2 and love it. I paid $150 plus shipping about 2 years ago on ebay. The only comment I can make about the Teryllium is does it need to be oiled regularly because of the material?

I have one and love it. However, don't buy one unless you regularly putt on quick greens. It's tough to get them to the hole with this putter on slow greens.

Fletch... do you game your teryllium ten? that's one sweet putter

I picked up my TEI3 on the bay for 200 then sank 100 in a for a custom refinish (not scotty as he offers only a limited number of finishes)

I love this stick...

I have a teryllium long neck newport. I like it a lot but like someone else has said - it's not the best on slow greens. I play on some slower greens (some with very large greens) and I really have to take a big stroke on some of the longer lag putts which can lead to some ugly strokes.

Like has been said before, don't get one for the sake of getting one. But, if you know you get on well with classic, Anser-type putters, you can't go wrong.

In my opinion they're not the softest feel-wise (say, to an Odyssey Black Series), but they give you the most 'responsive' feel.

I've had mine for about 10 years now and I haven't had anything else in the bag for that time.

You can get them on EBay, but make sure it's in good condition. Yes, these things rust, but, there's absolutely no excuse for excessive rusting all over the head to warrant re-finishing. Like I said, ten years of use pretty much every day and there's rusting only on the sole of mine. The head is like the day I got it cos I made sure to oil it after every round.

They're perfectly balanced, feel solid and instill confidence knowing you've got a Scotty in your hands. And, this model is a beauty to boot.

I didn't really want to deal with applying silicone to the putter after every round and decided on a copper torch finish

the finish accomplished two things, one - eliminated care qualities and is pretty much maintenance free, two - added 8 grams to the headweight which makes the putter more versatile on slower greens (which tend to be common on midgrade public courses)

Sure do, thanks amigo. I had to re-grip it (faux leather grip was garbage) but other than that, absolutely no complaints

My sister and I joined forces and bought Dad one for his birthday ten years ago.

It was a terryllium inserted Santa Fe model. It is one sweet feeling putter. He'll take in and out of his bag at times.

You've really got to keep 'em wiped down well and coated with baby oil after every use....can be sort of a pain.

Sweet sticks indeed, though.

I've wanted one ever since but haven't had the $$$.

I traded some old clubs for my first Cameron this week. I've got several bids in on others and I'm eagerly awaiting the release of the new Studio Select Squareback model.

They get addictive. I don't anticipate ever trading or selling them off.....as having them around to choose from is a neat option that appeals to me. Game one for a few rounds and then see how it goes. Switching up putters keeps my focus more sharp when putting.

Good luck on your hunt for a terryllium model.

  • 4 years later...

I have two Scotty putters, and while I like them, neither of them come close to being as perfect as my Seemore Si-4. Perfect for me that is, I realize im just one person.

I do believe Scotty's to be overpriced, and their usefulness to be greatly over-exaggerated though. Great putters, but the myth is better than the reality.

My next putter will be a fitted Edel. My brother uses one of my Scotty's, so I guess I have one, since I would never ask for it back, and he likes it a lot. I just haven't officially given it to him yet. I like to make him sweat, so I mention once in a while that I may start using it again. I won't, but I like the way his eyes droop when I mention it, hehhehe.

In the Ogio Kingpin bag:

Titleist 913 D2 9.5* w/ UST Mamiya ATTAS 3 80 w/ Harrison Shotmaker & Billy Bobs afternarket Hosel Adaptor (get this if you don't have it for your 913)
Wilson Staff Ci-11 4-GW (4I is out of the bag for a hybrid, PW and up were replaced by Edel Wedges)
TaylorMade RBZ 5 & 3 Fairway Woods

Cobra Baffler T-Rail 3 & 4 Hybrids

Edel Forged 48, 52, 56, 60, and 64* wedges (different wedges for different courses)

Seemore Si-4 Black Nickel Putter

    • I agree with @klineka & @DaveP043 above.  When a new member first joins the club they cold be told that they are not eligible for tournaments until they have an established HCP.  As you said, it only takes a few rounds.  If they do not to post HCP that was their choice and choices have consequences.  If playing in the tournament is important to them then they should step up and establish an HCP.  Maybe they miss the 1st tournament, is that a real big deal?  And if it is a "Big Deal" to them then they had the opportunity to establish the HCP. As for not knowing how to report for HCP I assume your club has a pro and they should be able to assist in getting the scores reported and I suspect out of state courses may also have staff that can assist if asked.

    • Cool here's my tweak, "If a player’s ball lies in the general area and there is interference from exposed tree roots or exposed rocks that are in the fairway or 1 club length from the fairway the tree roots and exposed rocks are treated as ground under repair. The player may take free relief under Rule 16.1b.[But relief is not allowed if the tree roots only interfere with the player’s stance.]
    • I would never do the extended warranty on the $50 slow cooker.  I also routinely reject the extended service plans on those toys we buy for the grand-kids.  I do consider them on higher cost items and will be more likely to get one if the product has a lot of "Electronic Tech" that is often the problem longer-term.  I also consider my intended length of ownership & usage.  If my thought is it would get replaced in 2-3 years then why bother but if I hope to use it for 10 years then more likely to get the extension. I did buy out a lease about a year ago.  Just prior to the lease end date the tablet locked up and would not function.  I got it repaired under the initial warranty and would not have bought it out if they had not been able to fix it since IMO once electronic issues start in a car they can be hard to track down & fix.  They did fix it but when I bought out the lease I paid up for the extended warranty the would cover electronic failures because my intent is to keep that car for another 8-10 years and I just do not trust the electronics to last.  Last week the touch screen went black and was unresponsive.  It reset on the 2nd time I restarted the car but that is exactly how the last malfunction started.  I fully expect to have a claim on that on repair under the extended warranty.  I do not recall the exact cost to fix last time since I did not pay it but I think it was @ $700-$800 and I suspect that will be higher next time.
    • Have you looked at Model Local Rule F-9 Relief from Tree Roots in or Close to Fairway?  You could extend this to cover exposed rocks.  The rule is recommended to be used only for areas relatively near the fairway, a player who hits a shot 20 yards in the woods doesn't really deserve relief.   Players can always take Unplayable Ball relief, they're not required to play it from a rock or a root.  Of course, they hate to take the penalty stroke too.
