weight at address

I have seen various instructors say to keep you weight (in direction of the perpendicular to the target line) either centered in your feet or over the balls of your feet.

I have been experimenting with both (attached image), but have found that when my weight is over the balls of my feet at address, I tend to move into the ball on the downswing. Look at how my backside has moved closer to the ball on the right. This leads to compensations and inaccuracy.

When my weight is more centered (left images) I am less inclined to move into the ball (but I still do a little).

I almost always hear that it is better to have your weight balanced over the balls of your feet. I have to admit it feels a little better at setup that way. With my weight there, how can I stop moving into the ball from the forces of the downswing? Is there a key balance tip that I am missing?

Over the years, I realized that there is no one right way to do anything. I've spoken with touring pros to weekend hackers, and everyone has their own opinion that works for them. I think your spine angle looks quite a bit better at impact with your weight more centered. If that seems to work, I would forget the "balls of your feet" approach and do what works for you. Would any teaching pro tell Furyk is swing is ideal? No way, but it works for him.

I'm sure you are like I am though and want the technical "right answer" to this, but the problem is you'll get 50 right answers from folks on here because they use what works for them; it may not work for you.

Let me ask you this. Does the weight transfer to your right foot's heel at the top? Then back to the balls of both feet & instep of the right foot when entering into the hitting zone? And then to the left heel during impact?

Take a look at these videos as they might help. PGA instructor Kevin Scheller talks about the weight in the feet and how it moves in an athletic fashion throughout the golf swing.

My weight at address is pretty balence, maybe a little bit more on my right leg, but not much if at all.

Thanks...this is a good point. I have seen these videos and if anything, I don't get my weight to my R heel on the way back...and I also keep almost half of my weight on my left foot at the top (i.e. Hardy 1 plane method). And after just thinking about it, maybe concentrating on getting everything to my left heel at finish will help more.
