Well, not really my bag, but my wife's. She's starting to pick up the game more and it was time for something better than the cheap Target clubs she had. The new Cobra AMPs caught her eye and so that's what she got. Her setup is Driver, 5W, 5h, 6h, 7-PW, GW, SW and putter. As she gets better we'll add in the 3W and close up the gap between the 5W and 5h, but for now it's fine. The putter is the Lynx Blackcat, she seems to like the look of the classic putters and this is what she picked out... I had a slim SuperStroke grip (lime green) put on it. Here's the pics.

Current set up is in my signature. Love the Nike 3 wood
post #624 of 839

Set up is in my signature. I've played TM and Cobra hybrids, but I hit the Integra I Drive hybrids much better.

Ping K15 12 degree
Ping G20 hybrid 17
Ping G20 hybrid 20
G20 irons 4-PW
G20 GW 50
G20 SW 54
G20 LW 58

My friend are saying that I should look at a 3W. Just not sure if it is needed.

If you try 3Ws and find them a bit iffy, consider a 4W. I carry a RBZ 3W-HL (high launch = 17* loft = 4W in reality), and find it easier to get the ball airborne. Part: it has a low-kick shaft, and my old 3W had a mid-kick shaft and 2* less loft.

A OK hit with my new 4W goes about 10 yards farther than an excellent shot with my old 3W.

A Golf Digest report from a couple of years back suggested that, for the average golfer, the 4W was much easier to hit than a 3W.

Several models carry a 4W, or a 3W-HL: RBZ, Callaway RazrX Black, Cleveland Launcher FL.

Also Cleveland CG Black and Ping K15 have 16* loft 3Ws with a little extra lift.

Don't forget the role of the shaft in fairway woods.  Going from mid-kick to low-kick might give you that little extra lift.

I love my fairway woods, they are 2 of my favorite clubs. The 3-wood is my go-to club if my driver is having trouble and the two FW's are great for shorter par-4's and long par-5's. I have 15 yards difference between the two clubs.

Several hybrids have gone through my bag. None are close to replacing either of the FW's. Warning; Neither club has the high trajectory of a hybrid from the deck (for me anyway). I can get a beautiful high flight by adjusting tee height, but off the deck they have a lower boring flight that is great when playing in the wind.

Driver - TM Burner - 10.5*, stiff shaft.

3-Wood - TM Burner Superfast 2.0, 15*, stiff shaft. 250 yds.

5-Wood - TM Burner Superfast 2.0. 18* stiff shaft.  235 yds.

Irons 4-PW,   4 iron is just over 210 yds.

GW - 50*

SW - 54*

LW - 60*

Putter

I have a 25 yard gap between my 5 wood and my 4-iron. Where I play, I rarely have trouble with my spacing, so my bag is pretty well set. If I was consistently looking for a 220 club, I would have to pick up a club to fill the spot and drop a club from somewhere else.

Also, I find it easier to hit my fairway woods well than a hybrid. Just me I guess.

Good luck.

I carry a 15* 3W and a 19* 3H. I hit them within 5 yards of one another but never on the same day so I keep both. Seems that when one is working well for me I'm topping the ball with the other so they both stay as my 200ish yard club off the fairway.
