Stevens finally caught a pass and it was for a TD. Seahawks are coming back. Not good field position for them now after that punt, but I think Alexander can take over the game if they get him more involved.

Never in my wildest dreams did I think that the NFL would so blatantly rig a game. East Coast bias is one thing but this entire Super Bowl was another. Two weeks of Pittsburgh this and Pittsburgh that, then hours of pre-game talking about Pittsburgh and then one horrible call after another. The zebras are the ones who should have won this game. All I wanted was a FAIR game and we couldn't even get that much. Makes me want to never watch another football game.

As for Pittsburgh, they deserve to be congratulated. I'm not saying Seattle would have won, but I damn well know that without taking TDs away from them it would have been a hell of a lot closer. Hope you guys enjoy the spoils and chip in some change for those big paychecks the refs got.

Someone sounds a bit bitter here. There may have been a few questionable calls but come on lets not get that carried away. The touchdown that was brought back was a bit of a touchy call but hey he did push off thats pass interference even though it was very little.

Now on the real atrosity here. What was that pregame show? Sure Stevie was great in his day but come on that was bad. The star spangled banner? Aretha and aaron nevil. Are you kidding me. That was worse than the pregame show. Half time show now there was a real winner. NOT!!! The stones are just that. As old as dirt and not so good any more. Time to give it up.

No, there were TWO touchdowns called back, and even the commentators said that the catch by Jackson in the back of the end zone should have been a TD. The other was when Jackson's left foot hit inbounds and his right foot hit the pylon. If you hit the pylon it's a TD, right?

I'm not arguing Ben's QB dive for a TD. That was super-close and at least they reviewed it. But they didn't review the one I mentioned above where they called D-Jack out of bounds. And calling a penalty on Hasselbeck for making a tackle!? The entire game was full of bad calls. Holding calls were made when there wasn't holding and Pittsburgh held a few times that wasn't called. It was a playoff long epidemic but tonight was blatant. This is the Super Bowl. You don't make the wrong calls on TDs like they did. The officiating took away the opportunity for a fair game to be played, that's all I'm angry about. Pittsburgh earned their 21 points, but Seattle earned the other 14 they should have had, too. And this game would have been CLOSE had the officiating been honest and fair. Then we would have known who the better team was and not just who the team was that came from a city on the East Coast.

Well, Seattle came out strong, but a string of unnecessary penalties killed us. Props to the Steelers for getting it done. Should-a, would-a, could-a doesn't doesn't win championships.

Congrats Erik.

Only if you get your second foot down. He never did.

I'm not arguing Ben's QB dive for a TD. That was super-close and at least they reviewed it.

The call was right. I was shocked the official changed his mind from marking him short to calling it a TD, but I still think Ben's arm (and ball) got over the line.

But they didn't review the one I mentioned above where they called D-Jack out of bounds.

Like I said, I think that was a good call and the booth upstairs had ample time to call for a review but the replay was pretty obvious. Listening to the sports shows this morning, that call wasn't even mentioned as one of the many questionable ones.

And calling a penalty on Hasselbeck for making a tackle!?

That was bad.

The entire game was full of bad calls. Holding calls were made when there wasn't holding and Pittsburgh held a few times that wasn't called. It was a playoff long epidemic but tonight was blatant. This is the Super Bowl. You don't make the wrong calls on TDs like they did.

I'll agree it was bad...it seemed that every call, big or small, went Pittsburghs way.

The officiating took away the opportunity for a fair game to be played, that's all I'm angry about. Pittsburgh earned their 21 points, but Seattle earned the other 14 they should have had, too. And this game would have been CLOSE had the officiating been honest and fair.

Who knows what the game would have been like...it is hard to say. I think that it at least would have come down to the last possesion or OT. You had two very evenly matched teams.

Then we would have known who the better team was and not just who the team was that came from a city on the East Coast.

That's the 2nd time you said that. On #3, I'll seriously start getting annoyed.

Fairways and Greens.

Thanks for clearing up the pylon rule. I wasn't aware that both feet had to be in before hitting the pylong for it to count. Ben's TD was questionable. There was not conclusive evidence either way, which is why I can't be upset that they didn't overturn it.

I see it bugs you that I'm calling out the East Coast bias. Well, maybe it's a little hard to swallow the truth. The entire Super Bowl event was about Pittsburgh with Seattle being a sideshow. From day one the media stories were slanted and that kept happening all the way through the officiating and advertising. Do you know how many of those black and white Lombardi Trophy ads they showed? They showed Pittsburgh players at a rate of 3:1! If you don't believe East Coast bias exists, you're looking at things through rose-colored glasses.

Cut the crap Aaron. Holy cow. After the Indy game you have the balls to come on here and say this?

East Coast bias is one thing but this entire Super Bowl was another. Two weeks of Pittsburgh this and Pittsburgh that

It's called a storyline. The Steelers had two pretty damn good ones.

then hours of pre-game talking about Pittsburgh and then one horrible call after another. The zebras are the ones who should have won this game. All I wanted was a FAIR game and we couldn't even get that much. Makes me want to never watch another football game.

Good luck with that one. But cut the crap, dude.

but I damn well know that without taking TDs away from them it would have been a hell of a lot closer.

Neither of the TDs you are referring to were touchdowns. He pushed off and he didn't make a legal catch - two feet in bounds.

Hope you guys enjoy the spoils and chip in some change for those big paychecks the refs got.

There were some funny calls, but no, you're wrong. Sore loser if there ever was one, dude, and a sore loser sunshine fan at that.

Two insults in this game, I think. First is Tom Brady - the NFL just

had to get a Patriot or a Colt in the game, didn't they? Second is frickin' importing a band from Europe to sing at a Motown Super Bowl. WTF is that????
No, there were TWO touchdowns called back, and even the commentators said that the catch by Jackson in the back of the end zone should have been a TD.

They, like you, were wrong.

The other was when Jackson's left foot hit inbounds and his right foot hit the pylon. If you hit the pylon it's a TD, right?

He hadn't even made a legal catch yet. Two feet in bounds. That's the rule.

I'm not arguing Ben's QB dive for a TD. That was super-close and at least they reviewed it. But they didn't review the one I mentioned above where they called D-Jack out of bounds. And calling a penalty on Hasselbeck for making a tackle!?

That call was pretty bad. The holding call, if you're wondering, was not - he had a hand on the front and one on the back. Holding.

The entire game was full of bad calls. Holding calls were made when there wasn't holding and Pittsburgh held a few times that wasn't called.

It's often been said that there's holding on every play... but only the blatant ones are called. I've looked over the line play (because I thought it was going to be a key to the game) and holding was called pretty loosely on BOTH sides. The only reason I thinkt he Haggans hold was called was because it was in plain sight in otherwise empty space away from the rest of the line. It was obvious.

It was a playoff long epidemic but tonight was blatant. This is the Super Bowl. You don't make the wrong calls on TDs like they did.

Sadly for you, they didn't.

We wouldn't have known who the better team was because neither team played great. Seattle appeared to bring their C+ game and Pittsburgh had their C- game.

And by the way, there was no "delayed flag" on the Jackson push-off. You can see the ref try to flip the flag and miss grabbing the flag before he has to reach back a second time to grab it. If he didn't intend to call it, he would have started to raise his arms to say "TD." He didn't. It was an obvious call.
I'll agree it was bad...it seemed that every call, big or small, went Pittsburghs way.

They over-turned the fumble (correctly).

I see it bugs you that I'm calling out the East Coast bias. Well, maybe it's a little hard to swallow the truth. The entire Super Bowl event was about Pittsburgh with Seattle being a sideshow.

It's called "the media" and they like to latch on to what's called "the story." This year, there were two, and their names were Jerome Bettis and Ben Roethlisberger.

From day one the media stories were slanted and that kept happening all the way through the officiating and advertising.

Because advertisers know how to make money.

As a Steelers fan, I was actually surprised that in the second week the media started to get sick of the "Steelers Story" and many of the people who said "The Steelers will dominate" actually started picking the Seahawks to win. So your sunshine fan bias is perhaps clouding your judgment too. But in the end, you've simply gotta realize: Pittsburgh had two stories going, Seattle really didn't have any besides going to their first SB. And in the end, regardless of what you say, your sunshine teams are 0-2 in the past two years and the AFC is 2-0, and my Steelers are Super Bowl Champions

BTW, Jeff has already informed me that he's warming up his pipes. That'll be a good time.

And hey, Tiger Woods won yet again. Go figger.

Thank you for bringing that up. That was the WORST national anthem I've ever heard. It was embarrassing to watch. I'd rather see a little kid from a local school sing than see that again.

Erik, I've lived in Seattle a total of five years. My wife is from here and this is now where we've decided will be our home for as long as the Navy lets us stay here and when we retire. I never had any connection to Philly other than liking some players. I do have that connection now to Seattle, so back-off.

You're in the minority on this one, man. 59% of the country thinks that officiating mistakes changed the outcome of game. And last night 39% said that poor officiating was the thing they'd remember most about this Super Bowl. I'm not the only one who KNOWS the Seahawks got screwed.

But not ONCE did I say that they would have won. I wanted a fair game. A game where the refs didn't wait to see what the Pittsburgh DB wanted them to do before throwing a flag. We didn't get that, Erik.

It's called a storyline. The Steelers had two pretty damn good ones.

Agreed. The whole Bettis thing was huge for the media. To me there were not any

good stories coming from Seattle.
And by the way, there was no "delayed flag" on the Jackson push-off. You can see the ref try to flip the flag and miss grabbing the flag before he has to reach back a second time to grab it. If he didn't intend to call it, he would have started to raise his arms to say "TD."

You beat me to the punch. The ref was trying to throw the flag before Jackson even caught it. At first, I thought the ref was going to call unsportsmanlike conduct because of how long it took the flag to come out, but he was trying to pull it out all along.

It was an obvious call.

Marginal. We've seen Michael Irvin get away with much more. That being said, if he doesn't separate himself with the DB, I don't know if he would have caught the ball. I'll defer to the official...

They over-turned the fumble (correctly).

Only after they initially called it for PIT. I'd rather them do it that way though. How many times have true fumbles been called dead because of a ref calling the ball carrier down by contact? It is

much better to let the play run out and use replay if there is any doubt.
And in the end, regardless of what you say, your sunshine teams are 0-2 in the past two years and the AFC is 2-0, and my Steelers are

Now that's unfortunate. If I didn't have a couple close friends and family members that were fans, I'd be really upset. I was pretty indifferent watching the game. I won't be bitter though. The Steelers were playing the best football at the end of the year. I don't think anyone can argue that. They deserved it.

Fairways and Greens.

Hey. I think Seattle could have won that game, but they did not capitalize on their chances and were killed by making stupid mistakes in crucial plays. Key catches were called back because of penalties and we had some "almost" big plays.

Rothlesburger's little run was a touch down. I looked at it and from what I could tell it was a TD.

Seattle isn't going to get the respect or attention east coast teams get because we don't have the history, fan base, or sympathy from the east coast based media. Thats no big deal. You get respect by winning, which we didn't do.

I thought it was a great game. The Steelers got it done and we didn't. I wouldn't go so far as to say it was rigged. Each penalty seemed to be pretty legit to me... Michael Irvine in the booth didn't think the push-off in the enzone was legit but whatever.

Bottom line, Seattle lost and I need to retire the logo for now:

That's fine. But last year you were an Eagles fan. Pretty die-hard too. That makes you a sunshine fan. I always root for the AFC if the Steelers aren't in it, but I don't switch like you did. I don't remember even hearing about the Seahawks last year.

You're in the minority on this one, man. 59% of the country thinks that officiating mistakes changed the outcome of game. And last night 39% said that poor officiating was the thing they'd remember most about this Super Bowl. I'm not the only one who KNOWS the Seahawks got screwed.

And these numbers come from... where? Your local Seattle news station?

Remember too that "the outcome" can also be defined as "21-13" vs. "21-10," not necessarily who won. Also remember this: I don't care what "the public" thinks. The public gets things wrong all the time. I have the game on TiVo and looked at the plays as many times as I needed to to determine whether the call was right or not. I've said above and I've said on my blog what I think about the calls - fair, overall, except the "low block" one.
But not ONCE did I say that they would have won. I wanted a fair game.

You got a fair game. It may not have seemed like it, but I'm talking about the facts here. Facts include things like "just because Michael Irvin got away with things doesn't mean that's how the rule is written."

A game where the refs didn't wait to see what the Pittsburgh DB wanted them to do before throwing a flag. We didn't get that, Erik.

Yes, you did, and there was no instance of the ref "waiting to see what the Pittsburgh DB wanted them to do."

Jeff, hang your head high and push for Seattle to re-sign SA.

The latest poll on ESPN:
"Do you think officiating mistakes affected the outcome of Superbowl XL?"

Yes - 62%
No - 38%

Somehow, I doubt the 62% of 80,000+ votes all came from Seattle. The whole world saw a poorly officated game yesterday and the Seahawks can at least hold their heads high knowing that they were, at a minimum , the equals of the champs.

You're right, I overreacted. But I wasn't the only one that thought this game could have been much closer even with the Seahawks mistakes.

Congrats on the title. I don't remember when the last one was, but I'm guessing this is the first you've been old enough to enjoy. I hope one day I'll be able to do the same. If it was anything like what I felt when the Razorbacks won a college basketball National Championship, nothing will be able to bring you down.
