OK, so after reading Carl Hiaasen's latest book I ran out and purchased a Cleveland Halo 3i 22 degree Hybrid for the bag because everyone should have one in their bag (I know... SUCKER is written across my forehead..haha)

Took the club out to the range today and I've got one question...

How the !@$!% do you hit this club?

From everything I've read, it's supposed to be a snap to hit, and the plan was to replace the 3 and 4 iron with this club as I may as well sell those for scrap metal. I'm just not getting it and was topping the ball a lot or hitting it fat, etc. I am a noob so I'm sure all of the issue is my technique... but I've got a couple of questions..

1. do I hit DOWN on the ball like a 9 iron, or up on it like a wood/driver?

2. where do I place the ball in my stance? (center like a 9, slightly forward like a 7-6-5, or more forward like a wood/driver?)

Thanks in advance for any assistance!

I have 19* and a 25* cleveland with the halo shaft, great clubs,i won't be replacing these for years, hitting a hybrid is the same as an iron to me,i take the same swing,i play my 25* maybe a inch forward off center, nice smooth swing and no lashing at the ball,if you are having trouble hitting these clubs, remember its not the club but your doing something wrong, its hard to give you info without seeing how you swing so it could be numerous things.

I have four halo hybrids in my bag and I hit down on them like an iron. With the 1i and 2i I get a low boring flight and plenty of roll. With the 3i and 4i I hit these higher and can hold a green with them.

If you are not careful these hybrids can be a hook machine. When I hit a hybrid I use a weaker grip than on the driver and irons.

I never had a hybrid in the bag until a couple of weeks ago, when I got a couple of Nickents with the iron set I bought. I went straight to the local 9 hole course and the hybrid stayed in the bag until the 8th hole, when I set up like I would of a 4 iron, and smoked it on the green. I stand a little bit further away then I would with a iron, but other than that its a iron shot for me.

Hybrids: 3DX RC #3IW and #4IW
Irons: 3DX RC 5-PW
