I was looking at getting a new bag and was wondering if the hip belt makes it easier to carry?

In my bag

I haven't tried this new Sun Mountain Bag, but as a person who carries bags for a job let me give you some reccomendations. I wouldn't reccomend Ping Bags, when i caddy those are consistently my least favorite bags to have. Basically the same for Izzo bags too. You can't go wrong with the Sun Mountains or Titleist Bags always very light and great feel on the shoulders. One thing to stay away from is the EZ-Fit strap system, have had nothing but trouble with bags that have had that on them. Hope that helps.

My best advice is to not so much look at how easy it is to carry a bag but to look at how easy it is to pick up and get on your back in the carrying position. Something that annoys me a lot about some stand/carry bags is how cumbersome they are to get in to position and ready to begin walking. If it's annoying to pick and get ready to carry in the shop, imagine going out on the course and having to do it 50+ times!

That's how come I like the Ping Moon-Lite bags with the single straps, I can have it across my back in a split second and not have to even think about how to do it. Keep in mind though that ease of carrying or ergonomics are of no issue to me as I carry a few gloves, some tees, 5 or 6 balls, 2 x rulebooks, water bottle and a towel when I play so I am travelling a lot lighter than most people.

I like my Ping Hoofer Vantage a lot... you just grab the retractable strap and sling the other one over your back. When your walking it holds it up real well on your back too.

That is actually a good bag, I use it on my high school team. Most of the older ping bags i have carried have had a very heavy base, with weak straps that really dig into your shoulders.

Yeah same, but I wish they made one with more space for clubs, and better dividers, because my clubs always seem to get caught up with each other, but everything else on the bag is awesome.

I have owned a Zero-G for 6 weeks now. I used to own a Sun Mountain Hug bag. What a difference! The Zero-G is the best walking bag I ever had by far. It is light. With a little thoughtful adjustment, you can get it to sit perfectly on the small of your back with virtually no weight on the shoulders. It is very easy on, easy off. The belt is ugly when you put the Zero-G on a cart, but it is easily removed. The bag has too many pockets for a good walking bag. I center all the weight into the two pouches on the spine of bag. I also put a cut sponge into the bottom of the bag which almost completely eliminates the sound of rattling clubs (i.e. the bag is very well balanced without the sponge, but I am almost silent now). Sun Mountain got it right this time!

yes.....i owned one for about a year.....do you want to buy it from me? (it has been completely reconditioned by sun mtn and is in new condition). it is red and is the medium wasteband.

I was more curious how you liked it? Can the 'hug' part be removed to basically just make it a regular superlight bag?

no, the hug part of the bag is integral to the bag.....this bag was a nice advance and I actually got used to it, but it has a few flaws that we solved by the zero-g bag.....don't hunt for a hug bag, get the zero-g instead (the belt on the zero-g is very easily removed)....the hug bag had a friction problem on the hug appartus and on the straps (this is why i sent it back to get it reconditioned because there was significant wearing on the strap and on the hug mechanism)....also, the zero-g has better padding for your back and has a one size fits all feature on the belt which is very easy to adjust (the hug mechanism came in three sizes; you were expected to buy the right size then wield it to your body)....just my opinion
