"Your First Birdie" Thread - Page 5

My 4th round. It was a short par 3, and I stuck it 3 feet from the hole, and then dropped the putt right in the center of the cup.

I kept the ball, its in one of those ball stand things, it holds 50 balls, and I keep balls from meaningful shots/rounds. First eagle. First time breaking 90, 80, first hole in one, etc etc. Every ball is a nice memory.

I got mine around year 3.......

Seriously.....I never took the game seriously until a few years ago but my first birdie took forever,

It was the 14th hole on my first time out and that's what started my love of the game.  EXTREMELY dumb luck.  I used to play baseball so my arms, hip rotation, feet were all in the "baseball feel"  With the poor mechanics I hit the green and it stopped about 6' from the hole.  Putted in from there.  After that though, it took 3 years to get my second one.

Stupid first birdie made me think that the game was easy.  I love and resent my grandfather for that first time out.  LOL

Congrats on the accomplishment by the way.  It's the memories of firsts that keep one coming back for more

I basically started golfing in May, got my first birdie on a Par 5, 448 yards.  It's an easier course, but it was only my 8th time out.  I actually still have the score card.

Hard fade on the drive, but still managed to hit 248y.  Took my 3H out of the rough and got to the approach.  60'd it within 1 ft of the pin, and then putted in.  That was probably the hardest 1ft putt ever.

However, I think my most impressive birdie came on a Par 3, 149y.  I tee'd off into the leftside bunker, but the pin was near the bunker (about 10ft).  Took my SW and chipped in for birdie.  That one felt good, especially since my Par 3's up to that point were consistent double bogeys.

About 3 months for mine. It was a good one too and I don't think I have birdied the hole since despite playing the course quite regularly.

380 yard par 4, decent drive, 4 hybrid to about 15 feet and holed out.

My first birdie was last year (first year I took golf seriously). It was a 150 par3 #9 and I sunk a downhill putt to beat my dad

3 months and a lot of putting practice.
It was on a Short par four, my tee shot went into the trees to the right of the fairway and I was left 120 from the green.
I hit a pitching wedge that landed 10 yards from the pin.
I sunk a great downhill putt.
Made my day.

Got to bump this because...

Got my first one today!! ⛳

Been playing seriously for about 10 months now.

#9 at Country Club of Miami, 150 Yd. Par 3.

My partner hit first, and hit one right at the pin. His ball rolled up, tracking straight for the pin and dropped!

I said " That mighta went in! You ever had an ace before?"

He said he hadn't, but said who knows if it went in?

I hit a 9I up there and stick the green. I'm pretty close, but.. I barely paid attention to where I was. He's in the cup!

Or so I thought.. Turns out he's about 20 feet past the hole, back down a ridge that we couldn't see, and I'm within 3 feet!

Now I'm paying attention!

Putt looks straight, and I tell myself 'Act like you been here before.'

I don't hit the putt hard, and during my stroke, a gust of wind blows right in my face. I'm worried that I've babied another birdie chance!

Right in the center, no doubt!

Felt/feels great!

Thanks!

I was 17 or 18 when I got my first birdie. It was a 150 yd or so par 3 with a big oak tree well out to the right of the green. I line drive sliced my tee shot right into the tree and it bounced off the tree, went straight up into the air and landed 5 or 6 feet from the pin. Made the putt. a1_smile.gif

Mine was on the 93 yard 13th at Belden Hill here in upstate NY when I was like 11... I hit 9-iron about 30 feet from the hole and made the putt... I had another one the very next round I played... I hit driver at the 180-yard ninth... Hit it just short of the green... And drained the putt from the edge... (I grew up in a lower middle class family, so you can imagine what my clubs were like)

Remember it perfectly.  I was about 14 probably and I was at a par 3 in North Las Vegas with my dad.  I hit my tee shot next to the green and chipped it in!

Since then i've only hit about 10 more birdies so I remember a lot of them

Got mine the first round of this year.  Hit the green on a 184 yard par 3 with a 38 foot (we measured after) putt.  I putted it with the intent to lag it close.  When the ball was 3/4 of the way to the hole on a perfect line everyone in my group got the "oh my, it might go in look."  Drained in in the middle of the cup.

Mine was about three years ago at a local par 3 course. I was on the 147 yard 7th hole and hit a 7I to about 2 feet, then made the uphill birdie putt!
