Status: online Ok, here goes my best explanation.

I play off a 12 here in New Zealand, shoot between regularly between 78 and 82. I have developed this problem where my short Irons draw (the shorter the bigger) and the longer the club the draw turns into a slice/cut.
I have just recently been experimenting with the left shoulder swing key but am wondering if I am really on the right track. I know I have an out to in swing with my longer clubs I can see that in my divot.
My questions are :-

1) Why would this cause a draw with my short Irons ? (not a pull but that happens sometimes)

2) Should swing plane be a concious thought or should it come as a result of setup ?

3) What is some of the best instruction for a lower handicap golfer with this problem ? (there is alot out there for the begginger/high handicapper)

Oh also I am 6ft using standard length clubs with regular shafts, cannot afford to upgrade them at the moment could this have a significant impact ?

Do you actually swing that slow on a real shot? I'm doubting it but just thought I'd ask.

There's a saying in golf that everyone's practice swing is good, but put a ball there and it won't be the same.

Unless you actually swing that slow and are sure you're swinging the same way that you do on the course you're kind of cheating yourself.

Awards, Achievements, and Accolades

Its easier to swing over the top with a longer club and easier to swing "underneath" your swing plane with a shorter club.
I think if you concentrated on swinging within your swing plane with all clubs they will eventually become natural to you

Hi,

I have similar problem My Pro (and video) conclude : to late releasing (or straightening left hand) ... can't overcome feel to hit it too powerfull. Result is open clubface with longer clubs. I should(but can't) fell to go thru the ball earlier.

regards,
