Did you hear about the lastest spat between Mickelson and Vijay. He got pissed Phil was hitting it 20 yards by him at the FBR (and he was I saw it) so he complained to the PGA and had them test Phil's driver. And it passed no problem. This after the well talked about arguement they had last year over Phil's spike marks. I know this will turn into a Phil bashing thread again but regardless this seems to me to be Vijay's problem. "He is hitting it by me and I'm great so he must be cheating"

That seems pretty ridiculous. In my opinion, they're both prima-donnas. However I think Vijay can be a nice guy from time to time. Whilst Phil... I don't trust him farther than I can throw him, which judging by his waistline is not very far. (sorry, I couldn't resist)

Well I can't say I would blame vijay for what he did or din't do. I don't know if its solid fact that vijay was the one to ask for it or not but the media sure hopes so. If someone I consistently beat last year all of sudden started popping it by my 20 yards I'd have questions.

A person involved with the tour said Singh asked for the driver to be tested. The person spoke on condition of anonymity because the test is supposed to be confidential.

So what the hell happened to anonymity??

phil is also averaging better yardage this year than vijay. Phil is at 298 and vijay is at 291 with close to the same amount of rounds. Nothing like creating a little drama though.

We have no idea if Vijay really started this or not. It could very well just be something someone made up to start some controversy. Still, I would not be surprised if it was true.

May as well bash Phil while I am here :) Why does his sister seem so nice compared to him?

Vijay probably requested it. And I'm not gonna bash Phil here...

Perhaps Vijay simply thought the driver was hot? It's every competitor's responsibility to protect the rest of the field when it comes to upholding the Rules of Golf.

Perhaps Vijay wanted to screw with Phil's head? Because asking to have Phil's driver checked implies that Vijay thinks Phil is the type that needs to cheat to win.

Perhaps it wasn't Vijay. Though it probably was. But still, that "anonymous source" could have made it up, too.

The press will make more of this than the pros will. Next week, watch, Vijay will call to have his own driver checked.

I can just hear Callaway's marketing machine running now.

I would say good for Phil, if he was bombing it past Vijay and Vijay did request a driver it should put a smile on Phil's face. It'd make me feel good to get inside Vijay's head. Even over something so silly.

I agree that the media makes more of these things than the players do.

I was sort of thinking about that. Perhaps it was Callaway that either leaked Vijay's request or maybe even just made the whole thing up? Conspiracy Theory!

Boy, are we on opposite sides of the fence! Everytime I hear her whiney voice feign knowledge about the golf swing, I rake my finger nails across a chalk board for relaxation.

A year or so ago TGC tried her out on some on-air commentary with The Champions Tour. She had absolutely nothing valuable to say and even inaccurately described some of the things happening on screen. Donna Caponni was back by the third tournament.

That's what I think about the situation. Vijay is just playing mind games with Phil, and I don't mind that at all. A little competition never hurts, and this spices things up a bit. Now it's in Phil's head, which was Vijay's goal. That's just my opinion though. I've probably been wrong more times than I've been right in the past, so take it for what it's worth.

By the way, it's nice to post at The Sand Trap again. I wonder what the heck happened to me?!?

How long ago was that? And what Phil-bashing did I do? C'mon, buddy... I wrote an article on Vijay cheating. I'm aware of it.

Would have been great if they had a chance to play each other this week. Looks like the only chance is if they both win all the way to the finals. I don't know if I see that from either one at this point though.

    • Just want to share a quick update with everyone. I went to the range the week before last, even though I took it easy no significant pain occurred just a slight twinge when I swung my #4 hybrid. The most encouraging news was no soreness the next morning. However I think switching back to graphite shafts is definitely gonna happen, my mp15's were fitted with X shafts and having something lighter will help.
