All I can say is lessons. There are many things about your swing fundamentals that could be changed. But you cannot rebuild a swing based on a golf forum commentary. The only thing I would mention is that you straighten your back leg on the backswing losing practically all the original flex you had in the knee. Whatever flex you have in your knee at setup maintain it through impact.

Oops. Just saw you have a 5 handicap. You probably don't need any advice from me. You have your own swing that works for you and anything I say would only make things worse. I may be wrong because I probably don't have a good an eye as some better players on the site here, but you don't have a textbook swing. Just chalk it up to a bad day. Hopefully you will get your timing back and keep it in the fairway.

More advice from somebody that has a higher handicap than you do, and I've never seen your swing before, so take it with a grain of salt.

The most noticable lack of power in the swing is from the wrists. In your driver swing, you have the club only slightly past vertical because there is very little wrist cock. Then on the throughswing, your wrists do not "close" or "turn over" or whatever term you want to use. That results in the left arm "chicken wing" in the followthrough.

I would work on grooving your wrists. Make finesse high pitch shots to activate them.

But again... grain of salt. Only the "self-taught never had a lesson in my life guy" approach.

thats exactly it. I can usually fix my swing easily but just didnt know what was going on. I wasnt turning over at all and i was cramping up at the follow through. thanks

you are living proof that someone doesn't need to have a perfect golf swing to shoot good scores.

your hips slide a bit too much but your swing is nice and easy and you don't have much "pull" in it which is great.

When viewing, it looks like you're going to come over the top but then you don't and your swing comes back on plane pretty nicely.

just work on your lower half and you're good. i wouldn't mess with your backswing

I'm sure you don't need to hear this from a 17 year old, but that's golf. There will be days when it seems like nothing goes right, and there will be days where every iron is as pure as the last. It happens to everybody, and the last thing you want to do is go and blame your swing and try and fix it.

Hell, Michael Jordan had games where he didn't even score 10 points.

    • Yea Club Rat said it. I really enjoyed the Senator and the Judge, then over to Grand National where there a couple good courses plus a fun par 3. The one I do play whenever I visit there is Ross Bridge; something about this course that is just good fun. I hope to play more of the courses in the future, but tomorrow is promised to no one, so hope is the key word. Have Fun, iSank

    • Eh. He broke ONE of Tiger's records. Youngest to be ranked #1 in AJGA. It didn't help that Tiger's birthday is in late December, or that Tiger didn't play many AJGA events before he was 15. Did he do any of these things? • Day 56: 4/19/2024 Okay, even though I'll be teeing it up in a tournament in less than a week. I couldn't find time to get to the range today.  I spent time on the indoor putting mat.  And I spent time in front of the mirror with my 7 iron. Then again later with the driver.  I also thoroughly cleaned all my clubs.
