i was watching the Golf Channel a few weeks ago and there was an segment where they show new equipment, i forget the name of the program though. i think it was Stina Sternberg who did the segment. anyways, she was comparing the newest shoe ware and the shoe that caught my attention was a uniquely designed shoe where one shoe was different than the other(besides one being left and the other right, duh).

for instance, if you were a right hander, the right shoe had much taller cleats on the right side of the sole, and there other differences depending on your dexterity.

does anybody know the shoe i'm talking about?

First I want to say thanks for putting such a hard search into my mind! I enjoy searching different things online, but this one nearly made me give up!

I am having the hardest time finding this for you. I have been looking a while now! I have come up with:

http://www.acquiremag.com/sports/spo...-swing-gtx.php

I don't remember that this was the brand they were talking about (I saw the same thing you did). For some reason, I was thinking they were FootJoys.

I found a bunch of sites about people trying to get the patent for it:

http://www.freepatentsonline.com/6665961.html
http://www.freepatentsonline.com/4167071.html

and the best site I found about the patent:

lol, thanks. i'm the same when it comes to looking for things. i guess i'm mistaken about the soles being angled though(stacked towards the right for righties), maybe i was thinking that's all that's missing from this idea when i first saw it.

whats with the patents? would'nt Puma have done that already?

here's the shoe on Puma's site:

hmmm, this is interesting:

http://web.mit.edu/newsoffice/1992/golfer-1202.html
Tamres and Koenig got involved in this research when the Foot-Joy Corporation approached their advisor, Robert W. Mann, Whitaker Professor Emeritus of Biomedical Engineering. "Foot-Joy was interested in getting a biomechanical analysis of the golf swing to determine the role of the shoe," remembers Mr. Tamres.

maybe there are FootJoys with this design thought as well?

FootJoy does have a new shoe coming out in '09 called "Synr-G" that I haven't found much info on yet. That may be it?

Are you discussing a shoe that replicates the trick of putting a golfball under the outer right edge of your right shoe (for righties) in order to keep you from swaying back and to keep you coming down on the ball? Isn't that a Tom Watson training trick? Sounds interesting, but difficult to walk with . . . maybe if you just rode a cart and got out and hit your ball . . . .

No, these shoes had a different spike pattern for your left foot than your right foot. AND they were also different depending on whether you are right-handed or left-handed. I'll keep looking on the GC website.

Thanks AGAIN, NVM, you've gotten me obsessed about these stupid shoes!
