oh my goodness...anyone watch the end of the lpga fields open when they interviewed morgan pressel? i could not believe she was crying...it's not like she did anything crucial to lose the tournament...she finished bogey bogey for a 71 and a pretty decent week...

you know what it is? she was in the same group with michelle wie and they both started the day 7-under, 6 shots off the lead...and michelle shot a 66 and dusted morgan. and morgan's been the one trash-talking michelle and saying all kinds of crap...and i think morgan was just so embarrassed to have been thoroughly beat down.

i'm from hawaii so i'm a biased michelle wie fan...but i admit that i love morgan's game and think her putting is fantastic. were it not for her incessant crying and that stupid fat guy on TGC's "grey goose,"(i know his name, but refuse to write it here) i could like her...but c'mon morgan, there's no crying in golf...

While I'm more of a Michelle supporter than Morgan, give her a break. She's only 17! Sure she talks down about Michelle quite a bit, but she's still young, and honestly, Morgan's won at the amateur ranks and qualified for the LPGA. Morgan just seems like she's more emotional than the other ladies/girls on tour. Give her a year and I'm sure she won't cry after a round.

Regardless, looks like we may have ourselves a nice little rivalry brewing among the ladies (Morgan and Michelle, if not all four including Paula and Natalie).

michelle's only 16! and the only time i've seen her cry was when she blew up in the final round of the us open last year. that, i can understand...but a small tournament, after shooting under par...and really with no chance to win anyway? say it isn't so, morgan. i haven't seen anyone cry as much as morgan does since nancy kerrigan...and we all know how irritating she was.

A lot of interesting personalities and rivalries are developing in the LPGA. It's too bad they can't even get up to date correct news out on their own website. They have a great opportunity to juice up interest in their tour and can't even manage to publish an up to datte leaderboard.

Those of us who are starting to take an interest will probably just get bored and go away before long. Last night the wire showed Wie at -7. The LPGA website showed her at -13 and displayed four rounds on the leaderboard with one (left blank) apparantly still to be played. But, the tournament date showed Feb 23-25. Now, today we find out there was a playoff.

Maybe Hawaii is just behing the tech curve ;-}

I saw Pressel cry too and I didn't think it was that big of a deal. She's still young and hasn't learned to fully control her emotions on the golf course. big deal. I think the Wie/Pressel rivalry is pretty fun to watch.

Yeah, the youngsters are all going to make the LPGA much more fun to watch as time goes on. It'll definitely be more interesting than it is right now, where it's Annika and then the rest of the field. After she finishes her run of dominance (if that ever happens), it's going to be a blast.

Frankly, I'm getting tired of the crybaby act already. She cried a few times last year, and this time she cried again? Emotion is cool and all, and I'm a fan of players that show emotion, but crying wins you no points in my book. I'd rather you cry only when you have reason to (i.e. you choke or someone steals something away from you, a great friend or relative dies, etc.) and that you celebrate only when you have reason to (great shot, win a tournament, etc.).

Plus, it should be said, but Pressel crying doesn't do much but point out that she's a female, and a girl. If she wants to help elevate the level of the LPGA Tour, I don't think pushing the "girly" stereotype is going to help much.

agreed! it's one thing to see a player cry because of a missed putt to win a major, but morgan seemingly cries after every tournament. man, if i cried after every poor round (remember, she shot under par yesterday, not 82 like michelle did at last year's US open), i'd be in a constant state of misery.

Because I am around teen age girls I think I have to cut her a break. She has the golf game and the paychecks of an adult, but she is still just barely 17 years old and has the hormones and brain of a high school junior. Anyone who is around teen age girls for any amount of time realize one thing. THEY CRY ALL THE DAMN TIME. They cry at the drop of a hat. She will get better, she will mature and get those emotions under control but jeez they cry on the BBV, Michelle Wie cried at the Sony when she shot 78. Girls just cry.

Everybody here could be right. Morgan may be a typically immature 17-year-old.

She might also be a bit of a poor sport, ala the Wie gauntlet throw down.

But there is another possibility that disturbs me, and that is that this kid may be wound so tight that she could possibly explode. Whether it be her own Tiger-like competitive fire or the death of her mother or some combination of the two, the one thing that she never appears to me is is relaxed.

I think she is going to win a lot of tournaments, but like any golfer she is going to lose far more than she wins. If she doesn't get some perspective on that she could have an awfully unhappy life in the midst of a great career.

That is the most intelligent thing anyone has said yet. Morgan is a great golfer and will win lots of tournaments, but she will lose a lot more. I think she is just an emotional teen age girl as others have mentioned. Let her cry, she is entitled to it. I'm glad to see some real emotions on the tour. That is why I like the LPGA more than the PGA - the real emotions. I think Morgan is very impressive. I love watching her play - tears and all.

What I know about Morgan Pressel is that she is one competitive young woman. She only has one thing on her mind all the time, and that's winning. The true test is if she can make that happen on the professional level. And you know what? If she does win, she'll cry again.

I do believe that if you lose, you shouldn't show how distgusted you are with yourself in front of the competition. It carries with it a certain stigma that can result to further embarrasement down the road.

Speaking of showing disapointment, did anyone see Tom Lehman take his anger out on his bag yesterday at the Accenture?

no crying in golf unless Michelle strips you down in front of everyone by shooting a 66.

and I too can't stand that guy on the Grey Goose show on TGC. just can't wait for Michelle to win a couple Majors on the LPGA and shut off all these TV talking heads

She will find another way to let her emotions out , she never blames someone else for her losing. she's got game and thinks she can win every week. Wie needs to learn how to play out of the rough before she can shine, she kills the ball, just not strong enough to play the tough shots out of the rough like tiger did and they have her convinced she's better than tiger was.

The poor girl wants to win so bad..but that's a good thing too..but I guess it all depends on how well she can channel those emotions. I remember when that one korean gal won the U.S. Open last year with the sandie. The camera pans to Morgan who was playing behind her and I just remember her being in total shock and dropping her club behind her..and then crying..I guess there will be a few more episodes of this..I can only image if she wins a tournament..

    • Agree. The next omission needs to be that ridiculous team concept. Nobody cares about a team when they really don’t represent anything except being a group of diminished morality and/or washed up pro golfers. Or wait, we’ve also got total nobodies who’ve accomplished nothing who now get a participation trophy! Doesn’t that sound invigorating!
    • LIV moving to 72 holes is a subtle admission that 54 holes was nothing but a joke all along.
    • I was going to start a thread, but this seems like the place.  Yesterday I played my matchplay match at my local club.  My opponent is a notorious sandbagger by reputation.  The pro once pulled his tournament rounds from the past several years and said that it is impossible his tournament rounds are legit based on his handicap. here is what happened last night.  I am getting 4 shots from him.  His current handicap index is 15.3 i shot 45 on the front.   Was down 4 after nine, he had three birdies and shot even par. I was closed out on thirteen, we halved with a bogey.  That bogey put him one over par for his round.   He then took a triple on 14 and then left. As if that wasn’t bad enough, he lied about his score.   I wrote down on my scorecard what the score was.  He put higher values that didn’t affect the outcome of the match to pad his score and apparently make it not look as obvious.   He shot 36 on the front, but claimed 40.  The higher values for his score were in the online scoring app our club uses.  He did it this way: I won #7. He had a 2 foot putt for par that if he made would still lose the hole.   He picked up and said it didn’t matter since I won.  He took a 5 instead of a 4 after picking up a gimme. on #8 his approach shot on this par 4 was 8 inches.  I verbally conceded the putt but I had hit into a hazard.  I finished the hole with a 6.  Instead of birdie he put in for par. on #9, another par 4, his approach was to 18 inches.  I missed my par putt and then knowing how close I verbally conceded the putt.  I missed my bogey putt, he never conceded mine.  Instead of birdie he put down a bogey. He padded his score by 4 shots on the front.  And then did again on 10.  I rinsed one and made 6 on a par 4.  I putted out and he was fishing balls out of the lake so I drove off to the next tee.  He had 15 feet laying two but claimed a 5.     love to know the odds of a 15 handicap being even thru 12 holes on a round of golf.
