My son just turned 3 a fwe weeks ago. He already has the Fisher Price "Fred Flinstone" plastic club and ball set. I want to put him onto the next level which leads me to all the kiddie sets out there.

For those of you who are in the same situation or have gone through this phase, what do you recommend? (besides lessons) I'm leaning toward the "Snoopy" set..think it has a driver, iron, putter. He's about 3'2".

I got my kiddo one of the U.S. Kids Golf clubs. The wedge (in red) because it's the shortest, smallest, lightest thing out there. Plus it's likely to get the ball airborn (though that doesn't seem to matter much to a kid).

I had an article posted on getting kids involved in golf, but the search on our main site is being slow right now because some other jerk on the server is running about 100 copies of a configure.cgi script.

Right when I saw the title of this thread I was gonna recommend US Kids Golf, so I'm glad to see Erik already took care of that.

Check out their website if you're interested: US Kids Golf

That's the article I was thinking of earlier. Very little applies to a 3YO.

We all know that the short game is where we make or break our scores. I have only one suggestion my friend:

Miniature Golf.

Mini Golf Courses are the training grounds for a superb, developed golfer.

    • Played my first 2024 round at Pierce Lake. Boomed my first drive down #10 fairway, then slowly slipped into mediocrity. 83 (69.6/131). The high point was going 2 of 4 on sand saves. My sand game is pretty marginal but today I must have discovered the secret for a couple hours.
    • day 34. Technique practice. Became too quick and outcome oriented. need to slow down and work on technique again.
    • Day 534, April 18, 2024 Practice before lessons today. Priority piece. No sim this time. 🙂
    • I’ve recently started KBs too and really enjoy it. I have one day of armour building complex and one day of a mobility routine. Adding in a speed training day too.    which routines do you do @Elmer
    • Again, I’m not an expert so take it with a grain of salt My question is whether laying back even further becomes too conservative and that strategy is suboptimal as a result? Essentially what’s the cost of guaranteed longer second shot vs the x% risk for hitting the bunker? I think the optimal way to answer the question is looking at strokes gained, in consideration of the hazards and penalties, and picking the strategy that maximizes SG off the tee. I’ve seen some apps that do this but I’m not sure how accurate they are.   And again, asking all this so I can learn what I should be doing in these situations rather than questioning your approach Bill. I would give an example of the course I’m joining this year where I plan to aim at the bunker, but I don’t want to take over your swing thread any further!
