I'm living in New York and although Golf Digest says now is the time to join a country club b/c prices are at an all time low, it's not really the case in NYC because the prices here are NEVER low and there are way too many wealthy people so...

My question is regarding country club prices in Florida, particularly, the Boca Raton area.

Now, i've done some online research on the country clubs down there and a few that have come up are St. Andrew's, Boca West & Broken Sound. I was wondering if anyone was A) a member at one of these or another Boca club and B) how much initiation and membership yearly dues were.

Thanks!

I suggest you call them and find out for yourself.

The best time to get a deal on a country club in Florida will be over the next month. The biggest reduction you would be looking at is initiation fees.

Once the snowbirds hit, I have seen many people try to negotiate better prices and shot down each time. Things may change this year because the economy is perceived to be worse than last year, but the worst time to join is between November and March.

Our country club lost 14 members last month, so yeah now is the time to join if you can. I would agree that the most you will likely get is a waiver for the initiation fees.
