Distance gaps in my Adams A3 hybrid irons set

My swing isn't consistent enough to get exact numbers on each club, but here's what I have seen so far for shots off the fairway (not off the tee):

3h - 230+
4h - 220
5h - 200
6i - 175? (not sure)
7i - 150-155
8i - 135-140
etc

I don't hit the 6i pure as often as the rest, so I'm still figuring out the distance for it. Either way, I've got a 5h going 200 yards and a 7i going 155. That's a big gap, regardless of how far the 6i goes. I just played a course with three par 3's that were between 175-195 yards, and had no idea what club to hit.

If adams made an a3 5i, that might solve the problem. But I don't see it on their website. Besides, the set is supposed to be designed to not have any gaps! Or maybe I should just choke down an inch on the 5h.

What would you do?

This is most likely because of a swing problem. It seems to me like for some reason your either delofting your 3-5 irons and adding more loft(opening the face) for your 6-8. For me i have pretty solid 13-14 yard gaps.

For me it goes PW :130(have hit it 150, but thats with hitting it very very solid and swinging on the screws.) 9i 141-143 8i 155 7i 167-8 6i 180 5i 190 4i 200 3i 215-220

I also have the A3's but do not have the same problem. I did when I first started swinging them but slowly grooved into hitting them more consistently, and hopefully you will do the same.

Interesting. Maybe I'm just hitting the hybrids better than the irons right now. It sounds like there is a lot of distance to be gained from hitting the sweet spot more consistently.

I've got the same problem. I get about 155 out of the 6i and 180 from the 5h. All I can figure is that there's more "game improvement" in the hybrids than the irons. Then again, maybe it's the indian and not the arrow.

hybrids also tend to be about 1 club stronger than the sole plate says because of the facts that they are an inch longer than the iron they are replacing and more often than not hybrids are usually graphite shafted and irons are steel... it sounds like to me that your 3,4, and 5 hybrids are acting like 2-3-4 irons... I'd add a regular five-iron to tell you the truth though in the a3 line they don't have one.

Those hybrids are unbelievably easy to hit and hit long. Also, if you have steel shafted irons with graphite hybrids that can make a difference, though it doesn't really cause gaps for me. When I first started hitting them and was having the same problems, I found that I was hitting the 6 iron just a little bit fat, but once I was able to get a feel for the irons and correct that my yardage gaps got better.

I am coming from some older Wilson Fat Shaft 3 clubs that had a 3 & 4 hybrid. The first hole I played with these new clubs was a 215 yard par 3 that I used to hit a baby 5 wood on because I couldn't reach it with my hybrids. I flew the green the first time I played it using the 3 iron, then backed off to a 4 iron on the next round and it was perfect.

also have you looked at the specs of your irons... 3-h 19 loft 4-h 22 loft 5-h 25 6-i 29 7-i 33 8-i 37 9-i 41 pw 45 that's like 2 thru 9 1/2 in my set... lol
