Bridgestone has probably got a pink version of that one for her too.

TGC's WITB has Paula Creamer now playing the Bridgestone B330-RX.

And the

precept site talks about her playing the Precept Lady iQ 180.... but it hasn't been updated since her win at the Jamie Farr OCC. Bridgestone owns Precept, y'all know, right?

Yup, Bridgestone owns Precept. Id heard back in June or July that Bridgestone was planning on phazing-out Precept, so its not much of a surprise.

Why would Bridgestone axe their downmarket ball label? If Callaway has Top-Flite, Acushnet has Pinnacle, and TaylorMade has the (formerly Maxfli) Noodle, I would not think discontinuing their value brand (and their place on the shelves of the Wal-Marts and Targets of the world) to be a wise decision.

It could be that they just want to further delineate Bridgestone as their "premium" ball and Precept as the "value ball", and so they are moving Paula Creamer to Bridgestone.

It doesn't make much sense to have Creamer endorsing a value ball (if, in fact, that is the direction the company is going) when she is one of the top players in the world. She would be much more effective promoting the premium balls.

I believe she said this is why she played a white ball last Sunday. She added that, if she likes the ball, Bridgestone will make it in pink for her. This may be from an interview somewhere, probably a link I got from AwsiDooger, but I don't have the link handy.

While we're on the subject, what kind of ball is Nick Price playing on the Champions Tour these days?

From what I understand, Bridgestone would rathar put their advertising money towards promoting Bridgestone instead of splitting the money between Bridgestone and Precept.

I really like Precept too and I hope Bridgestone keep them around because they are a good ball at a really good price. If they do axe Precept, oh well. I'll just start playing Bridgestones.

Let me correct myself. If Bridgestone were to do to Precept what TaylorMade did to Maxfli -- that is, sell the Precept brand to a retailer like the Sports Authority for their use as a reputable private label, while retaining the rights to the Laddie and any of Precept's ball patents -- that would be a reasonable business decision. Scrapping Precept altogether, and nullifying any value it may have, would still be foolish.

Perhaps. Its not as if Bridgestone is knocking themselves out in terms of spending a lot of money marketing Precept anyways.

Id be fine with Bridgestone giving Precept the axe if they came out with a Bridestone ball that was in the $10-$15 a dozen range, but especially in the tough times we are in now, I think its important that have an inexpensive ball in your lineup for new golfers and people on a budget. You know, people start by playing Precept golfballs and as their skills improve and they get more serious about golf, they move on to the more expensive Bridgestone balls (much like now Acushnet have Titleist and Pinnacle and how Callaway has Callaway and Top-Flite). We will just have to see what B-Stone does. Like I said, it doesnt matter all that much to me. If Precept does get the axe, I will merely step up to whatever is the least expensive golfball in the Bridestone line.

    • We do not buy extended warranties. We will use one of our credit cards for the purchase that extends the warranty "x 2". Our thoughts are: a. if the item is a lemon, it will likely break right away and we can attempt to apply the original warranty or credit card extension. b. over the long haul, we will probably save more money by not purchasing the extended warranty and fixing/junking broken items out of our own pocket. The important thing is to keep some records of purchases so one may make a claim under the manufacturer's warranty. I recently sent back some Footjoy shoes for leaking and Footjoy did a reat job of making the claim process work very well. I had the original receipt, warrant info and box. Easy peasy.
