My friends and I love to play this course that recently opened near us. This is by far the best deal I have ever had the pleasure of finding. The course is top notch, challenging yet not too punishing, and is kept in the best condition I think I have ever played on. The course is situated on a beautiful lake, has lakeside cabins you can rent at very affordable rates, and makes for an excellent golfing weekend retreat. Hands down the best deal I have ever come across at $47 for a round on the WEEKEND, that includes the cart and a large bucket of range balls.

Anyone else know of good deals like this, and are willing to tell others, lol?

btw, heres a link to the course I was talking about. If you are planning a golfing retreat, this is an awesome option. The fishing is excellent as well!

This probably doesn't apply to the intent of this thread...
Back in January I went to visit my friend in San Diego. As a surprise, he wanted to play a round of golf at the beautiful La Jolla Country Club. His girlfriend knows the son of the president of TaylorMade, and the guy called the course and made the arrangements. When we walked in, a kid behind the counter greeted us, and we told him we were the " son's name " group. The pro, who was in his office, comes running out, literally pushes the kid out of the way, and introduces himself. Since neither of us had clubs (my friend isn't a golfer and I didn't have my clubs), the pro lent us both brand new sets of TaylorMade clubs. By brand new I mean they were still in the plastic wrapping. He did have us pay for golf balls, but we got them at member price (25% off).
He told us that he had cleared the course behind us so we could play at our leisure and to help ourselves to the buffet! We did have to pay for beer, and a six-pack of Newcastle was a sweet $36.
The experience definitely gave me a glimpse of how the other half lives!

In the bag:
Ping G5 Driver 9 degree, Ping G10 3-wood, Nike 3 hybrid, TaylorMade R9 Irons 4-AW, Cleveland CG15 56 and 60 degree wedges, Odyssey 2-ball blade putter

The best course bargain that I have had wasn't for playing, but practicing. Last week I was in Oregon look at high schools (going to school down there next year to hopefully play high school and on to college.) and I played all of my golf at a course just outside of the city I will be in. The course is called Emerald Valley Golf Course, and it is one of the home courses of the University of Oregon (school I would like to attend) Men's golf team, and the pro at the course let me use the golf team/member private driving range and short game area, and while back there I got to meet the golf team players. It was really cool to get to practice with those guys, I picked up a lot of things that I need to work on.

Here's what I play:

Best golf bargain I have ever had was Phoenix/Scottsdale in July!

$250 for 10 rounds in 9 days plus airfare (stay with friends). Just make sure you start around 6 or 7 so you're done before it hits 100 at 10:00 and you're sitting in the pool slammin' beers by noon! You can play some great courses for their summer rates. I figure the prices might have gone up a tiny bit since 2000 but from what I hear golf courses are still pretty empty in July in the desert (at least during the week) so they take what they can get.
My Equipment:
Northwestern 3-, 5-, 7- and 9-wood;
Goldwin AVDP Irons (5-10 plus PW);
U.S. Golf 60 degree wedge;
See-More Putter; Bushnell Yardage Pro 1000 Rangefinder;Golflogix GPS.

how about a best driving range bargain story? i purchased a 10 bucket prepaid "credit card" at the local driving range. once it runs out you can stock it up again and still use the same card. anyways, it's $40 for 10 buckets except the kid at the desk mistakenly credited me with $400 worth of balls.

was i bad in not saying anything?

I played Bandon Dunes the second summer it was open. I think it cost me $140 or so. I've played it at least 100 times in my dreams since then. Not a bad investment. I can't wait until I can play it, Pacific Dunes, and Pacific Trails again for real. I understand that if you have the stamina to play them all on the same day, you can play the second at half price and the third for free. Not that's a bargain.

Ha The best bargain I got was Believe it or not on Wild Dunes South Carolina.

My mom worked with someone who's husband is the pro their so we could play for as long as we wanted as much as we wanted for free. My dad and you probably played almost 1000 dollars worth of golf in one week for free.

I tell you there is nothing more exciting than Being on the tee with a gator less than 20 feet away from you.

Wild dunes is the most beautiful golf courses I have ever played in my life.

How do you upload and post pictures I have pictures of the course and the gators.

I got to play at a country club course today near my house for free. I'm not a member, but my buddy works there. The weather was horrid today, and we wen't out there to see if I could come on, due to the foul weather. Well, we showed up at the club, and not a single person was there.

We decided that that was a fine 'go-ahead'. Normally it costs $100/round for guests.

All and all I played pretty crappy today. But at least I got to play for free on a course far superior to the usual muni I frequent. :D

Last month I got to play The Ranch Course at Keystone Resort (Robert Trent Jones design) for free, normally $120 in September. I have to acknowledge that it was an exchange deal with the course I work at though... we gave them times for 2 foursomes, and we got the same in return.

Grosse Ile Country Club , a private original Donald Ross course from the 1920s, for $55 through Golf Association of Michigan . A friend, who was a member, said it costs him $85 to bring a friend on.

    • Yea Club Rat said it. I really enjoyed the Senator and the Judge, then over to Grand National where there a couple good courses plus a fun par 3. The one I do play whenever I visit there is Ross Bridge; something about this course that is just good fun. I hope to play more of the courses in the future, but tomorrow is promised to no one, so hope is the key word. Have Fun, iSank

    • Day 56: 4/19/2024 Okay, even though I'll be teeing it up in a tournament in less than a week. I couldn't find time to get to the range today.  I spent time on the indoor putting mat.  And I spent time in front of the mirror with my 7 iron. Then again later with the driver.  I also thoroughly cleaned all my clubs.
