Ok, I posted a week ago or so that I wanted some advice on irons I should play, this time I need other advice! My big problem is that I do not feel I get the proper distance out of my 4-5-6 irons that I should. I tend to hit shots with these clubs that fall softly to the right and go nowhere! Here is my hang up: I work a lot with the inside approach and I never hit the apparatus when I practice with it----telling me that an o-t-t move is not my problem! I am at a loss for what the problem could be!!

Assuming you swing the same without the apparatus, physics suggests an open clubface.

You may not be releasing your wrists in time to get the club face square at impact. When this happens, it's common for you to have the high, short fade that you are experiencing. This usually is a side affect of A) swinging too fast to the point where your arms can't keep up with body turn on the downswing or B) fearing a snap hook so much that you are hanging on way too long.

Every once in a while I'll have problem "A" creep into my swing when I'm trying to bomb one off the tee. For me, I just need to make sure I get "set" at the top of my backswing, so when I come down to hit the ball, my entire body is in sync.

It could be that you are not transferring your weight properly to your left side.

I'm with all of you on this, but why can I hit a driver 290, 3 wood 265, and hybrids 17*/19* 240 and 225?? I feel I have a repeatable swing, yet I struggle when it comes to irons---esp the mid/long irons!

when you hit those longer clubs, can you describe them,,,,say, if you miss, how do you miss?

for irons, can you describe your divots? can you do some careful alignment, say put a club down as a parallel marker and see if your divots are straight on? are them deep and long enough?

Are those yardages you gave off a tee are off the turf? If you are hitting 3 woods and hybrids off the turf with those kind of yardages then seems like your swing is good. When you pick up your 4 iron pretend you have a 7 iron in your hand. Seems like you are in a transition area where you are swinging to steep or shallow with those clubs.
