Played in similar weather over the weekend. I wore long pants, an Under Armour skin tight thermal long sleeve, and a Nike dri-fit jacket over. I was nice and warm the whole round for the most part.

I'm supposed to be going golfing thursday and the high is only supposed to be a high of 45 degrees.

Thin layers and wool socks. Either uber thin ski underwear or thermals. Bottoms could be jeans or thick Kaki pants with windbreaker style overpants if it gets too cold. For the top, a long sleeve golf shirt, a thin but warm golf zip up and a wind breaker. Buy some hand warmers at wal-mart and keep them in your pockets and with your balls.... in your golf bag that is..

Also, keep your bag in the house the night before. Clubs and balls will play easier when you get there.. At least for a while. Last year I played 18 in 36 degrees like this and was good. It wasn't windy tho.. Finished in 2 hours.

Golf pants, short sleeve under armor shirt under a short sleeve polo with a footjoy beanie. Hand warmers for when I'm not hitting. I love the cold :)

Wind breakers are nice to have as well to put on after you shoot. I can't hit well with one on for some reason

Like everyone has said, you can't go wrong with Under Armour. Something you might want to look into to wear over is the Nike golf vest. It's waterproof and insulated with elastic cords on the bottom. (You can either wear it loose or not)

If you have a Nike outlet near you, one can be picked up for about $20.

I'd go with wool socks, a tight thermal top with the sleeves cut out and some wicking underwear to start. Then I'd go with a layer of polyester/polypropoline bottoms and a top of the same material that covered my neck. Then I'd ad some wind breaking pants and tight fitting windbreaking jacket. Maybe add a vest on top for the coldest spells.

If you don't have any, get some big mittens. This will keep your hands warm between shots and they are much easier to take off and on than regular gloves.

I will judge my rounds much more by the quality of my best shots than the acceptability of my worse ones.

Please don't say "going golfing". You are going to play golf. You wouldn't say "going footballing" would you?

Dress in layers, lots of layers. That way if conditions change you can shed a few so that you maintain a comfortable temperature. One of the benefits of walking is that after the first couple of holes your body begins generating it's own heat.

Wear Under Armour long sleeve or anything similar to it, this will keep your torso warm.
Have head cover and thick socks ( in case of hole in one wear two pairs ), this will keep your ends warm, and throw in a pack or two of the hand warmer in your pocket for your fingers in case you need it.
Add a wind breaker or a vest which you could peel off if you get warmed up.

The handwarmers are a great suggestion. Keep one in each pocket and keep your hands, golf balls, etc. stuffed in there as much as possible. It really is amazing how much difference this can make. Cold hands during golf sucks outright.

I detest wearing any type of jacket while playing...but it is a nessessary evil at times.

45 degrees.....will most likely find me wearing a light turtleneck and sleeveless sweater. If I get really cold then I'll throw on a 1/4 zip althetic cover. It may come off and on...depending. I suppose that it all comes down to what the wind and rain are doing.

Corderoy slacks are great during the cold weather months.

I wear Mizuno Mock and layer my clothes to stay warm and still allow freedom of the golf swing.
