I think most of us change out our drivers WAY too often. Recently I've become a putter Ho. I'm wondering how many people trade in iron set regularly though..

I bought some DCI's back in June and switched to MP-33's in August. I'm planning on sticking with these for awhile though. I already have plans of sending them in to get rechromed and regrooved once they start to wear. I'm in it for the long run baby!

I've had mine for quite some time, but I also took a 5 year hiatus from playing, so they play younger than they are. I think I have another 2 years in them, but if I see something out there, I wouldn't be opposed to making a change.

I'm on my third set in 17 years, but have decided that woods / drivers change much more significantly that the iron technology, so I'll keep this set I have now (and have had for a couple of years) for at least 8 - 10....

Iron technology hasn't changed in years. Unless there is like a new iron revolution I'm gonna keep my irons.

I still play my Mizuno MP 67 irons and I'm very happy with them.

Golf is a game in which the ball always lies poorly and the player always lies well.

If so why did you buy your 2008 irons? You must have thought you hit them better, and thus being an advantage.

I changed from 'old' ping eye2's to ping G5's about 18 months ago, the eye2's I got were second hand, just bought them to get started and kept them for 6 months.

I wish I hadn't bothered changing them, the G5's i'm struggling with, i'm thinking of changing them to the S59's or similar blades.

Not sure about keep changing irons, that said i'm not sure I like the G5 'game improvement' irons, never really got on with them, but I think that may say something about my game as i've had some good lessons lately and feel more comfortable with them.

I've been playing for 8 years and have owned the following Sets:
Knight Diablo (1st set, gone quick)
Ping i3
Ping i3+
Ping G2
Callaway x-16
Nike CPR
Nike CPR2
Cleveland TA5 gunmetal
Ping i5
Nike CCi
Nike Slingshot
Nike Ignite
Nike Sumo
Ping i10
Wilson Staff Di7
Adams Tech OS
(I may have missed a set or two)

I currently have 5 sets:
Ping i3+
Ping i10
Nike CCi
Wilson Staff Di7
Adams Tech OS

I will play one round or two and then switch sets. Sometimes I'll play one set for two or three months straight. Just depends on how I'm feeling and how well I'm swinging and what course I'm playing. It's a very complex formula and I'm not really certain I understand it.... jmoc

I've played for three years and was given a set of irons with graphite shafts that I learned with. Then won my current iron set at an outing last year. This set is 5i-SW and its done me well, but I have a huge gap between 180yd-220yd.

I plan to get fitted for a set of irons this winter and keep those irons for a long time for the investment. I am making sure to get fitted for clubs so that I can take the equipment out of the equation and lay all blame on myself for a bad shot. Its primarily a mental move, but I'll take it plus I get some new clubs out of it.

Had some old Petron junior blades when I started and then some Wilson 'Fluid Feel' forged blades (why did I get rid of them?!) followed by my beloved FG-17s which I kept for ~15 years until they wore out. Got some Spalding blades afterwards which didn't last long followed by some Wilson Fat Shafts. Got some Ping S59s 3-4 years ago which I still have but I've recently got some ex-demo MacGregor 1025Ms which are awesome and won't be leaving the bag for a long while - enjoying them as much as my FG-17s. Can't believe I haven't tried any Mizunos over the years so I might get weak and test some out in the near future...never know.

Awards, Achievements, and Accolades

I have been playing for ten years and I have had three sets:
Some knock off set that I started with
Maxfli Australian Blades
Cleveland TA1's

I want to get a set of muscle back clubs to use the technology available to me. I would guess that I will get a new set before next summer.

Switching irons very frequently is a bad idea in my opinion, you need to get comfortable with one set and the yardages, how a mis hit shot will react, etc.

had a full set of pinseeker clubs from my ex girlfrieds dad and I loved them. Long story short we broke up and daddy wanted his clubs back. indian giver as they call it I guess. Now I play proselect because it was a 50 doller used set and I still can't get it down with them. I hit a 2 yr old set of Dunlop EXD clubs and I loved the irons. so I am trying to buy those off the guy now. but christmas is comeing and I might just have to go through with buying my own set. dunno what though out of what is in mind. If I can just get a good set to take to college with me I will be happy.

    • Day 85 - Played 9. Driver was solid, approach shots were pushed, chipping/pitching was better, putting was rough.
    • Day 514, March 28, 2024 Quick ten minutes while waiting for the wife to come home for our trip.
    • Day 262: did a stack session. Worked on rehearsal swings during rest breaks.
    • It's been a little more than a year since I can last remember hitting golf balls and today I just got my second cortisone injection in 11 months. I thought maybe shortly after the first injection I was going to be able to start playing again with therapy but the pain while doing my backswing past halfway just didn't subside like just lifting my hands up in the air did. So today the Orthopedic surgeon put more in the backside of the shoulder than before to address the tendon more. I'm going to try therapy for another 3 months and if I  can't swing the club without pain then I think surgery is going to be my next option.
    • I was just down visiting family in southern California and we played a couple rounds of golf. I hit my ball into the deep rough near some tree's and my cousin's husband offered me his Sim 2 Rescue Hybrid to try out. And I felt the same way, wow! I loved it, it also had a Pure DTX grip on it which I loved. As soon as I got back home, I ended up buying two used Calloway Rogue X hybrids, 3 and 5. So far I've only tested them out at the range, but I love them. They're much more forgiving than irons for me.
