OK guys, here is a question: I was doing some season-end calculations and was playing with the numbers from many of my rounds from this year and came to this conclusion - on the course I play normally my handicap plays to a 3.5 - but the course is only a 61.2/107 par 68.

All of the other longer/tougher courses (par 72 70.8/116 etc.) I played to a 12 handicap.

So here is my question, how legit is my 8.4 handicap if I play a majority of my rounds on weaker/easier courses?

Next year, when I start league play at the easier course, I will be giving many of my challengers strokes, but when I go to a league at another course I will be getting a lot of strokes.

Am I just being paranoid here, or, is this a legit question?

Thanks for all of the input you will all supply!

Your course HCP will fluctuate depending on the course you play, as you have seen. If you are playing your regular game and turning in all your scores (not sandbagging, etc), your HCP is legit no matter what course you play.

Totally legit. That's why we have handicaps because each course is different. Just because you give strokes at Course "A", then get strokes at Course "B", it won't matter. Everything is fair so you have nothing to worry about.

I was wondering along a similar line. My handicap is low due to all my low scores coming from an easy par 67 course that I play regularly. Got quite a few scores in the high 70's and low 80's over there which is why my handi is 14 even though I shoot so high at Bethpage. Never broke 90 at Bethpage or anywhere that is a par 70+.

In theory, the course rating / slope rating should correct for this. The easy course should have a lower course rating, so your handicap differential is computed against better than par. The slope will further scale the handicap. In the end, for the same net scores, you'll have a higher handicap index if you post them on an easier course.

Of course, that assumes that the ratings are correct and doesn't correct for familiarity. I think it's safe to assume you'll score better on your home course than on an unfamiliar course, even if it's exactly the same difficulty. I don't know that there's anything you can do to fix that...

The only way that I can question the accuracy is if you play and post a large percentage of your scores at the same course. That can skew your handicap just because of the familiarity... knowing the places where you simply must avoid, and equally knowing where you can miss and not be penalized for the miss. You don't have that luxury on a course which you are unfamiliar with, so your score is likely to be even higher than the course handicap adjustment allows for.

    • Most the stuff I found on Instagram and just copy and mix it up. a few of my favorites: Clean>Squat>Press> March Around the body >catch >Squat> press I also hold a the kettle bell upside down with both hands on the handle. Squat when I stand back up I lift the kettlebell up over and behind my head and hold then repeat
    • Not sure this is the best thread but, if the rain holds off, today is my 1st round of the year.  Getting ready I can not find my Shot Scope.  I guess I put it away too well for the winter and thus that is may "Winter Depression".  I'm sure I put it somewhere that made sense at the time.
    • 44+39 for an 83. Figuring stuff out.
    • Day 288 - putted on my mat for a while listening to a presentation. Checking my head movement in the mirror, then just focusing on a good stroke.
