I just want to make sure im not weird, but I use a regular flex driver and stiff flex irons. I just find this to be the best fit for me. Is this unusual?

Yeah I want to clarify this too. For the past two years I have been using regular shafts on my irons and stiff shaft for my driver and woods. I just recently purchased irons with stiff flexed shafts on them and it definitley feels better and more accurate. Now I am thinking of going with a regular flexed shaft on my driver. Is this weird?

In a driver, you want to get as much power as you can wield without finding fairways three holes over. The whippier the shaft - so long as you can time it right - often the more distance you get.

But with a 9-iron, you're not trying to get more distance - you're trying to be accurate. So I think it's common - or it would be if people didn't worry so much about their manlihood - to see stiff irons and R flex woods.

thanks erik, just wanted to make sure im not weird. When it comes to golf i want to be able to play my best game, i could care less about my manlyhood of having a stiff shaft driver when it comes to golf, im not trying to impress anyone with my equpment only with my game.

Typically... To hit the ball farther
Use a lighter weight shaft and/or a more flexible shaft.

To hit the ball straighter

Use a heavier shaft and/or a stiffer shaft.

So yeah it's not uncommon to see stiffer shafts in irons. Although wedges are usually a little softer than your irons. The doesn't mean people should go buy X flex shafts, the biggest mistake players make is use shafts too stiff for them.

I use Stiff in my driver and X-flex in hybrids, irons and wedges. That's just what works best for me.

Typically...

Now I understand why people typically get a heavier shaft on their fairway woods...for more control and accuracy.

To play your best is the goal, the clubs are only tools. mixing is good if it works for you. I've even mixed shafts on different irons.
