Where do you place your ball in your stance for 4 iron and 5 iron? How do you hit with 4 iron consistently ?

I usually place it about 2 balls away from my left foot. But the shot goes high and not penetrating. I have CB irons and steel shaft (NS PRO).

Thnx,
Ronald

Try moving it back a little bit if you want it to go lower and more penetrating. When I used to hit these clubs in the middle of my stance, the ball would go too low and it was hard to attack a green with the type of trajectory I was getting. Therefore, I moved it up in my stance and now I can get the ball a little higher and now these long irons are more useful.

Inch or so inside left heel. Doubt the height is down to the ball position per se. Stiff or regular flex shafts? Do you hit a cut, straight or draw?

i like a shallow punch when it comes to hitting long irons rather than a high launch..

the ball is places usually 4-5 inches right of my left toe

I use Regular flex steel shaft due to the fact Regular flex is lighter than stiff flex.

Regular flex is 102 grams.... stiff flex is 108 grams.... I hit draw shots.... (because of the offset on my iron heads). I don't have from using long irons.... in fact I would rather use 3 iron than my fairway wood.... I'm not good with fairway woods...
