which way does your divot point?

When you have hit a shot, with say a nine iron, that tracks right on the flag and you have taken a divot, I am interested in knowing which way the divot points. Thanks

This thread was moved because I accidentally posted it in the equipment section. We had made some progress. I just posted a reply after some previous posts. Some people were hitting left of target and some basically at the target.

I started this because I wanted to get a feel for whether I should change what I had been doing. I took a lesson last year. Because of that lesson I began using a fade as my go-to shot, instead of trying to prevent it. Recently I hit a great shot to about five feet from 125 out. My swing had felt good, then I looked at the divot and it was pointing to the left of the green. I had come over the top. I had never noticed this issue before I began hitting mostly fades.

It seems that for both fades and draws a good thing to do is swing so that the divot is pointing basically at the target. Are there any drills or technique points out there that would get a divot pointing to the left straightened out?

my divot is dead straight towards the flag when my ball tracks dead straight to the flag.

If I aimed dead on the flag and the ball didn't track dead on, my divot is almost always pointed @ 11:00, meaning I turned (closed) the clubface. I dont think I have ever seen any of my divots pointing the other way, I believe the only possible way to leave a 1:00 divot for a righty would be with an inside-out swing.

      Yea Club Rat said it. I really enjoyed the Senator and the Judge, then over to Grand National where there a couple good courses plus a fun par 3. The one I do play whenever I visit there is Ross Bridge; something about this course that is just good fun. I hope to play more of the courses in the future, but tomorrow is promised to no one, so hope is the key word. Have Fun, iSank

      Day 56: 4/19/2024 Okay, even though I'll be teeing it up in a tournament in less than a week. I couldn't find time to get to the range today.  I spent time on the indoor putting mat.  And I spent time in front of the mirror with my 7 iron. Then again later with the driver.  I also thoroughly cleaned all my clubs.
