Is playing a little bit outside in that bad?

When I swing my Driver I like to have a casting motion through my drive. Not chopping wood or going majorly over the top I just mean a little outside/in strike. I play it on my 3,4,5 irons and it will cut 3-5 yards right. I am a righty. Anyway what do you all think. When I keep my hands in on the Drive it seems like I will pull shots left more hitting low darts left. If I play the slice/cut drive it fades out there and it is way more predictable. I usually poke them out there 240-250. When I catch it good maybe 260 tops unless some weird extreme condition, Hill/Wind etc.

Play what works for you, look at Jim Furyk, he's rank 11 world wide with a US Open win and he has a corky swing you don't want your son to imitate.

I believe in play what works for you especially if your are consistent with the shot pattern and scoring well with your swing.

Having said that Tiger Wood after winning his first Masters by lapping the field decided to change his swing and look what he has done.

I am always changing my swing in search for the consistent and repeatable swing, so don't be afraid to ticker with your swing also in search for a perfect golf swing and lower scores.

In golf magazine (I think), they did a study using Golf Laboratories swing robot. Neutral to inside generated about 240 yds. Three degrees outside 233 (6% less); Six degrees outside 214 yd (12% less); nine degrees outside 202 yds (17% less). So perfect swing, different swing planes. Outside loses distance always. Neutral or inside is about the same, near maximum distance.

If you can tolerate the loss of yardage, I assume that is OK. Personally, losing distance is not good.

Granted, IMHO a slice or hook reduces the distance more. Being in the woods is a bigger penalty than lack of distance.

Whatever works. It's not how but how many and all that.

Talking of Furyk as an interesting example, anyone remember Eamonn Darcy? Now he had an individual style but it worked.

Awards, Achievements, and Accolades

I know a guy who hits every drive with that same setup, and he is usually in the fairway, not as long as some guys but in the fairway. It definetly works for him. If thats what you feel comfortable with, go with it. 240-250 and able to control it? Sounds like you got that club where you want it.

All thanks for the replies. Jon I admit I have friend some who played at a high level in high school etc and some who are hackers, and I usually am inbetween them all with my distance, but I am in the FW usually. Now if I play 6,800+ I might be introuble. Infact I might be 2-3I all day into the greens on par 4's. But I take a humble approach to golf, I am not good. I'm not like my friend who nails it 300 yard/with 5i's into greens 200+ yards out. That's not me infact I am a hybrid 3i out from 200+ lol. Anyway, I accepted who I am along time ago. Not a pro, just a guy who likes to get the ball up in the air everytime and score decently. Well at least to my standards. Cheers!
