Can anyone comment on the Top Flite XL Distance Yellow ball.

I was playing with Nike PD Soft, and now I moved over to Top Flite XL Distance because for $10 for 15 balls I could not pass it up.

I just started in golf about two months ago and do not want to play the more expensives balls because I tend to lose some. One time I lost over 9 balls on one outing... only one time I went out and only lost 1 ball.

so as you can see it can add up fast $$$$

any good or bad about the Top Flite XL Distance ball

Thanks All...

by the way

Here's my only piece of advice: If you are playing a course where they use yellow balls on the driving range, on the holes that catch DR balls switch out and use a white ball. DAMHIK.

I've got some Wilson orange balls that I will use on certain courses at certain times (like when I'm playing solo) for the very purpose you point out, no one "mistakenly" hits or takes my ball, plus, it helps in tracking down errant shots when I'm a single..... jmoc

It's a good ball. Many might turn up their noses at playing a "rockflight", but for all intensive purposes you won't notice any difference between playing them versus a much more expensive ball.

I'm not saying there isn't any difference between balls, but for a beginner those differences won't be readily apparent, and a good player can use a cheap ball and shoot good scores.

Once you begin to gain consistancy in your game, and an easy way to tell when that happens is when you rarely lose a ball, you'll want to begin trying out different balls to see if one suits your game better than another. It's pretty rare for me to lose a ball. I typically can play a couple of rounds with the same ball before I lose it (it does happen though and I can lose more than one too), so I settled on a particular ball that I like and that seems to fit my game pretty well. But most of the time I still find myself using balls that I've found out on the course. People lose a lot of balls and usually those are new balls. When I find one I pick it up and put it in my bag and pull it out and play it when I happen to lose one or for my next round. This is a great way for you to test out other brands and kinds of balls for free.

I have been through the exact same process as you. I kept coming back to the Nike soft ball. I just don't like hitting rocks.

I'd try the TF for sure, but at $16 a dozen, the Nikes are a pretty good deal too. If it's the yellow that's important to you, I think Pinnacle makes a decent yellow ball. It was softer than the TFs and I liked it better. Enjoy the game!

OK, I tracked down a "better" yellow ball for you. Not as inexpensive as the TF, but much cooler... sort of.. maybe.. depending.. or not..

Eww a top rock

, No top flight actually makes great balls for beginers, and even better players now with the gamer.

if you think that they play about the same as the nikes, then go ahead for sure, but I personally hate the top flight xls because I fell like I am putting a rock. I would buy some used balls on ebay over using new top flights myself.
