for me...probably only 40-50% of the time do I hit the green from the 75-120 yard range....I think it is the main reason I'm a high handicapper :{ I probably get up & down maybe 20% of the time.....so I'm giving up a lot of shots.

What about U?

I don't have any numbers but the last few times I remember hitting from 100 yards, I only remember missing maybe once or twice. But it is rare for me to hit from 75-120yds at my home course. Only did that once yesterday when I played.

OP, I don't wanna get off track but what are some nice courses up in that area? I'm getting tired of playing the same courses in my area.

At approx 100yds, I pretty good at hitting the green. Probably about 80% of the time. No bullshit. Where I have problems is inside 60yds. And even though I get on the green, my putting is nothing to be desired. I'm a high handicapper because most of my strokes are lost with my short game and putting.

100 Yards is a 3/4 Wedge for me. Just too far for my 54 which maxes out at 85-90 yards. If you have issues with it, then play a practise round and drop a few balls at that distance. It doesn't matter what club you use as long as you can control it. I would probably hit the green 75% of the time from 100 yards.

100 yards is a smooth & easy pitching wedge for me......the challenge is to hit it smooth & easy!!!

I've never kept stats on it. I'll keep track of this over my next few rounds and post the results.

I'll say this, though....my strategy on each of the six par 5's on my home course is to hit a safe drive in the middle.....bite off enough on my second to put me right on the 100 yard marker and then wedge it home and putt out. My scoring average on these par 5's is so much better vs. par than on the other holes.

100 yards is birdie hunting season. Its not a matter of hitting the green but a matter of getting it within 10' that I strive for. I would suggest that if you aren't hitting the green from 100 yards that you should never shot for a flag (if you are) but shot to the center of the green. A lot of high Handicapers I play with have the problem of shotting for a pin thats tucked or just on the green and it kills them.

I probably hit the green almost (85-90%) every time but a lot of the time they aren't as close as I would like. I almost consider anything over 20 feet away as a missed green.

probobly 90% or so..

the only exception being yesterday, biiiig doleg left, hit a nice easy fade driver, right into a divot. tryed to play it back of stance witht he lobber, and right over the green. DAMN! rough up and down from back there.

But its not as hard for me, as my 54 goes about 115. so 120 is pretty easy yardage for me.

100yds out is my favorite distance. I've been working on this shot all summer and now at the point where I get on the green 70%-80% of the time. It's usually a PW or my 56* depending on the conditions. It's my putting that keeps my index high.

Today....from 95-120 (my PW) I was 70%. Two of these misses still had me putting from the fringe, though. My misses were (1 each)-left, right and way long.

100 yards is the distance I dread, can't hit my 56* S/W far enough and hit my gap wedge too far, I would rather be 115 yards out for a full gap wedge into the green. Don't have the subtle control required yet but will get there. I am usually disappointed if I am more then 15 feet away from these distances.

According to my data, from 2004 to the present (from 90-110 yards) it is 81%. Index in that timeframe varied from 4.2 to 7.0.

I hate being 75-100 out. I am much more accurate with my pw, 9i, 8i so I would much rather be 140-160 out. Maybe thats something I need to work on ;) Got the new wedges so hey thats not a bad idea

    • This is pretty much how I look at it.  I understand there are times when the piece of mind has value. I think over the long haul I'm money ahead by never buying the extended warrantee. Hell, What do I know? I went to Ch!cago PubIic SchooIs.

    • On my car I got the extended power train warranty. I do read the fine print most of the time. Though at now 37, my eyes aren’t what they were 10 years ago.    The problem with most of these extended warranties on electronics and appliances is you don’t register the warranty with the place you buy the warranty from, which I’ve always found strange. Unless it’s GameStop then you know Alina drops her Switch in the next two years and the screen cracks they’ll replace it. No questions asked.    You buy a slow cooker at Walmart for $50 and the extended warranty is say $6, you have to go through a third party to register your product for the warranty, and it’s pretty damn annoying. Target is the same way. Anything you buy the extended protection on you have to go through a third party.    Why do retailers go through a “broker” for warranties? Because they don’t wanna deal with it? They make me talk to someone from another country, that I can barely understand, when I need my warranty fulfilled.   Sorry for the rant.
    • You may be able to find a regular flex Blueboard on the second hand market. I’m little more than half your age so I swing a shaft that launches pretty low so I don’t have a lot of experience with Regular flex (other than when I try to hit it I miss way to the left).    There are other shafts, such as the newer Ping Alta that I’ve heard good things about. And one that no one talks about. The Jupiter shaft. You can get this shaft for a $100 with a grip and your Ping adapter installed. I was talking to the golf manager at Dick’s Sporting Goods here and he has one in his driver and has nothing but good things to say about it. I thought about getting one for my Paradym Triple Diamond to play it a little shorter, but haven’t pulled the trigger yet.
