I was playing the 17 hole at Sharp Park, Pacifica and hit one of the best drivers all year. What made it a pure drive was the fact that it was effortless. My friend comment that I had great tempo. I took the club back slowly but deliberately and just hit the drive pure. I am going to try to duplicate that swing for another pure drive and try to incorporate this swing into my irons and fairway woods, it only I can duplicate that same swing at the range.

I am trying to remember what I did and I just remember that I took the club back on a good line and it was a slow tempo and it put me a good position on the top of my backswing and I guess put me in the slot or good position on my follow through.

Has anybody else experience a pure shot similar to what I experienced?

Once every couple of rounds I manage to get one with a perfect contact, that feels so clean you think you didnt hit the ball until you realize your ears are ringing.

I remeber at the course I normally go to its has a par 5 (540yards) with a slight curve right, guarded by tall trees. Its about a 50 foot drop and to make the curve and the trees u need to carry 280-290. With the 50 foot drop that isnt too bad. I got one shot, so perfect it carried the trees and landed 1-2 yards from the 200 yard marker there was literally no bounce or roll. Half the ball was in the ground, and I misshit the second shot into the water. Anyway that driver was perfect, I was very pleased.

Ah yes, the 175 yard eight iron, the perfect rebound off the face of the driver, that pure wooshing sound, the feeling that you compressed the ball almost flat, a sweet harmonious vibration through the club shaft in harmony with your body's resonance frequency.

Nope, never felt that.

would hit a couple each round, but most recently, maybe a 7 iron punch shot to the index 4, 450 yard par 4, left to right wind, pin was 15 on, 7 from the right. I hit it 13 on, 10 from the left, pure stike out of the centre, it rolled a few feet before checking up, leaving a 10 footer which was knocked in for birdie, bringing me back to 2 under.

The drive was also pured - smack down the left half of the fairway, not taking on too much of the dogleg, but safely away from the bunkers.

It's gone in my "great shot log" which i started recently.

Yes sir. Been there. Actually two weekends ago, with a 4 iron.

Sky'ed the driver on a straight par 4, leaving me about 220 yards to the green. Pured the 4 iron, stopping it on the back edge of the green. Didn't even feel like I hit the ball. Absolutely straight as can be.

Was one of the most fantastic shots I have ever hit.

Too bad I three putted afterwards.

Yes, did it for the first time in a LONG time yesterday. I hit a great drive, then dialed in a 6 iron from the fairway and hit it so pure and so clean it left with a click and a whisper, straight as an arrow in a beautiful high arc...

...that flew the green.

Had one yesterday, short par 4 which the front is guarded by two bunkers
and green is blind from t-box,hole is only 280 yards, hit a great 3 wood and we walked up to the green and my ball was 10 yrds from the flag.Did'nt make the eagle though but birdie was good, three birdies on last 3 holes left me with a 34 for the back nine.

Maybe a couple, but I am a mis hit type player. I usually play my weaknesses so if I ever did "pure one" it would probably end up being a terrible shot lol.

I have compressed a 60 and 56 and pulled some huge spin off of them.

A few years ago, I had gotten a garage sell set of Sam Snead Wilson Irons. We rented a house on a cotton farm, and occasionally, I went out and hit balls into the field. Never had a lesson at that point, and really not hitting well at all, I did manage to pull the pure shot. It was a 7-iron. The sky was a bit overcast, and seeing that white ball going straight into the air with the dark backdrop, and not even feeling the contact, well folks, that's what made me want to get more serious about the game of golf.

That's what happens when you hit the sweet spot. We've all done it on occasion. But making that "pure shot" repeatable? Good luck on that.

I play Palo Alto Golf Course located just south of San Francisco and in the afternoon the wind picks up so I was hitting into an elevated green into the wind from about 150 yards so I decide to choke up on a 6 iron and make an easy swing. I took a slow backswing and accelerated through the ball and I hit the ball solid with a nice trajectory, hit the back of the green. the swing was easy and the tempo of great. I tried to duplicate that swing the rest of the afternoon but could not.

I find that my perfect shots are very frequently followed by my most imperfect shots. It's like Golf Karma needs to be kept constantly in balance...

I hear you there I had a horrible round yesterday but on one hole (378 yd. par 4) I hit a 290 yard drive in the fairway, it was like I was taking a practice swing (no feeling from the hit) I have a GPS so the distance was correct. I follow it with a blade off the toe to the right of the green...etc and end up with a 6.

I think we all know the feeling. I'm currently demoing a HiBore XLS. Yesterday, on our first hole (a very short, 450 yard, straight par 5) I hit this beautiful little draw right down the middle of the fairway leaving myself with 160 to the center of the green. It was the most wonderful feeling.

Of course, I followed it up by chili dipping my 6 iron, hit my PW onto the green and two putt for par. That's what I get for thinking "eagle" the moment I realized I had a chance.
